Wait a minute - Is that really a dual floppy or just a blank!?

What is that thing anyways, looks like a bulky (yet intriguing) Mac Classic.

I really wish I could find any trinitron monitors here, they're either non-existent or people know what they're worth 😢

This is my monitor for soviet clone of ZX-Spectrum - ex TV set Sapfir-401-1 with broken and therefore demounted tuner. The Spectrum clone (Leningrad-48K from 1991 year) have RGB video out working at PAL clocks, which can be easily connected to a B/W TV (I simply merged all signals through 1K ohm resistors and put them to video amplifier transistor's base). On the right side is the power supply for the Leningrad (probably from another soviet PC, Duet or Poisk-1). On the left is a book about Sinclair BASIC. And in the middle (between the computer and the monitor) is the radio receiver Melodija-101-Stereo from 1975. It is not used in PC even as amplifier for audio subsystem, but it is possible to use Melodija with their speakers as a semi-Hi-Fi audio system for PCs as the Melodija have an AUX in. 😀

And this is MDA monitor Addonics MON-7M1, connected to my 286 PC.

If I want to play games on 286, I'm connecting a semi-selfmade CGA display to it. It is a old soviet RGB monitor MC6121 connected via RGBI to RGB converter (a simple resistor-based DAC):

It was came to me along with another Spectrum clone (Kramis Profi-512, a Z80 PC with 0,5 MB of RAM, Bulgarian FDD 360KB, LPT, powerful 512x240px, 8 colour graphics, AY music accelerator, local bus connector, "Hibernation mode" (yes, real hibernation to floppy disks in 1995!) and CP/M support).

I'm don't listing SVGA monitors as they are just old stuff. 😀 Only the unknown Quadram VGA/CGA combo deserves to be listed here: first link, second link.

In general, how much Soviet era computing hardware has been preserved in collections, museums, and whatnot? I'd like to think that a few of those old Elbrus or EVM 360 and PDP clone machines have been kept around as historical artifacts.

Big mainframes such as ЕС (ES) series or Elbrus are very rare to find as they are really huge and containing kilograms of copper, silver, gold and platinum. Most of them was scrapped. Personal computers like Spectrum clones, clones of PDP (ДВК/DVK series), IBM-compatible (Поиск/Poisk, Искра/Iskra and such) and other (see full list) were mostly preserved in collections and in homes of their owners. There are also few museums (example).

But the Leningrad PC from photo was rescued from the trash box, and most of other retro things I have are also had thrown by previous owners into trash and then rescued from recycling by me or my friends. Many people that preserved old computers in 90s (then people was on the verge of poverty and almost nothing was thrown away, instead they took everything into their homes) now is freeing space in their cabinets, mezzanines, barns, loggias and then simply throwing all "old garbage" into recycle bin. And many rare things gets recycled. 🙁

The more rare thing is computers and other devices that were built after the collapse of the USSR, as then the economics of newly created 15 independent republics was very unstable and most of electronic manufactures was quickly closed due to bankruptcy. So all of the stuff was produced in small amounts, was very bad quality, and had quickly been scrapped or disassembled.

a lovely Amdek Color500 i picked up a while ago. really, a fantastic amount of inputs/outputs/audio for the time period, way better than a 5153.

My 21 inch baby, a CTX EX1200. Just cracked it open tonight and adjusted the focus and she is looking brand new! I know what the voltages are and I was careful.

Looks like we still have room for a little one. Behold my tiny 10" Amstrad CRT as shipped with the Amstrad PC4386SX complete with 3.5" floppy for scale.

Hi!

I'm sorta a new guy 'ere and, 'ere goes pictures of my 2003 LG 702S CRT that I've picked last wednesday (had to drive up 2 hours but it was worth it IMO, CRTs are getting tough to find in France) up for 15 euros. Even tho it's 15 years old (oh the irony, BTW manufactured on October 2003 as it exactly says on the back) it still has a very neat image quality (I had to slightly tweak the geometry a little bit however):

Needless to say, this thing has an insanely loud degaussing coil (it's much louder in person), strong enough that it did even shook the monitor one time 🤣

Proud owner of a Shuttle HOT-555A 430VX motherboard and two wonderful retro laptops, namely a Compaq Armada 1700 [nonfunctional] and a HP Omnibook XE3-GC [fully working :p]

Your best bet may be to import one from Europe - albeit the west coast(US) may be nearer?
I could send you an IBM P260 but after checking with UPS I got a price of about 1000€ for shipping.

Not the best picture, but that's one of my HP P1230s - very nice and rather compact and light for its viewsize.

Just got this Packard Bell from a recycling centre (the tip) it has some good sounding speakers built in and a volume wheel next to the brightness and contrast, at the back is a bass dial I dont know why its not at the front. Is this the first monitor in this thread to have built in speakers I have screened all the posts here a bit fast so maybe I missed a few pictures, its only a 13 inch screen but the colour is good and the picture is sharp.
