@ CMB75 - Yep, this board will go in some tiny barebone case.

I have also to clean up those simms, didn t check their capacity but for sure there can t be only 1664kb.

It's probably 2048KB but 384KB are reserved for the system or something so the BIOS decided to not include it in the startup screen.

My Schneider 386SX is the same. It shows the RAM as 640KB Base + 384KB Hidden + 1024KB Extended.

2mb. 4 x 256kb = 1mb x 2 is 2mb.

4mb will be 4 simms.

Those chips are 256K x 4bit, so two of them make 256KBytes per SIMM, hence 2MB.

I would like those late 386 mobo still having the PGA socket. The look of the PGA DX40 is much much better of the plastic one.. In my 386 mobo I've both the cpu soldered and the cpu socket (empty) and I still can't understand how and if it would be capable to understand which use of the two cpu if I'd install the PGA one.
That form factor with both cpu and fpu sockets and 256Kbyte cache support would be nice. Too bad I had in the past a Soyo mainboard exactly as I would like nowdays but had serious problems caused by the battery acid and I don't have it anymore.

I bought a Roland RA-50 Realtime Arranger last week that arrived a few days ago:

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks fine and I'm told it works well too.

And today I also received the Athlon 64 3700+ (socket 754) that I recently found for a reasonable price. That will be going into my fastest Windows 98SE system with AGP. The mainboard is an MSI with NForce3 chipset, which has a blown cap that I need to replace first. It still works, but only boots intermittently. Should be fine once I put the new cap in.

I just ordered an RA-50 as a backup if my MT-32 ever dies and also in the hope that it might support CM32L effects (not clear if it does, I won't be disappointed if it doesn't) . The price was too good to pass by at 113 $CAN (about 83 $US) shipped . The kicker is that the seller is so close that it would have been a short bicycle ride to pick the unit up in person .

Anybody run any conclusive tests on CM32L compatibility (or lack thereof) ?

Finally bit the bullet and ordered a couple Gotek floppy emulators..... this will let me clear out a dresser drawer full of 3.5" floppy disks. I'll probably keep some floppy disks for testing purposes but I really don't think I need hundreds of floppy disks.

Once I decide I want to go all Gotek that will also let me get rid of almost all my 3.5" floppy drives. I'll just keep a few for imaging disks and testing.

I really wish there was a 5.25" to USB adapter so I could hook up 5.25" drives to a newer computer for imaging purposes.

Also bought 20x 128kx8 10n and 20x 128kx8 15N DIP-28 SRAM cache chips.

Nice! The RA-50 craze seems to have started. I've seen a few people on here that have also gotten one recently.
I got one a few days ago but haven't had the chance to hook it up yet.

No, not a huge roll of 4.7k resistors. I didn't have a clue why I received this until I eventually unwound them and found this inside:

I ordered these batteries to fix up some motherboards and an SRAM floppy emulator with barrels of death. But why on earth the seller used ~220 4.7k resistors I did not order/pay for as wrapping is a mystery 😜

Edit: and they're the wrong bleeding batteries too 🙁

I ordered 3.6V LIR rechargeables, these are 3V CR non-regchargeables.

Yeah.... but it costs too much for the few 5.25" floppies I would need to image.
I guess the main reason cheaper one like the 3.5" floppy to USB adapters (cheapest is $10.75 on eBay) doesn't exist is probably due to not enough demand.

If I could get one that was in the price range of a Gotek or even a bit more, I would be all over it.
