I might be able to contribute some hosting in place of these dodgy free hosts. What quantity of data are we talking about here?

We are talking about multiple gigabytes, try to do an estimate. By Maliks main link to the drivers.

Creative Labs Sound Blaster ISA Cards' Drivers Collection (Old Thread)

And then try to go into PM conversations with Malik. Cause he is basically the "head master" (so to speak). Of this project and others.

Good news guys, the normal download link on megaupload comes up after you wait. So nothing is lost.

Might be a good idea to get these files off Megaupload etc, you never know when they might pull them for whatever spurious reason they can think of.

I can arrange unlimited (storage and bandwidth) for $5/month including a domain name. How does that sound? I could also implement a system to prevent hotlinking to our files from other sites. That way I could put on some Google AdSense (since they're nice and unobtrusive) to help pay for the hosting.

I don't mind putting in the admin time, for the good of the community! Although it would be nice to get some help initially with uploading all the files initially.

I've PM'd Malik.

SquallStrife: it sounds like a great idea, I also have something cooking with a domain name. That I have reserved too, and a server that is still not up and running. So it does sound like a bloody great idea 😀

OK guys, the basics are set up:

http://www.vogonsdrivers.com

On the way is an FTP account for folks to upload files, a nicer listing interface with descriptions and file size and stuff, and a visual overhaul to make it more VOGONSy.

The anti-hotlinking facility is pretty basic, you need to go through the "getfile.php" landing page before you get to the actual file. It's primitive, but it should stop the casual sod with poor netiquette.

Since the storage and bandwidth on the host I've chosen is practically unlimited, we could probably host all kinds of drivers, like Malik's NT and 3Dfx drivers.

Apart from that, if there's a feature you'd like to see, speak up and I'll see what I can do.

Is it a compliment to call someone a pair of canine testicles?

Yeah it is, as far I am aware off. When it comes to the Scouse dialect. Look it up, if you do not believe me 😀

And yes I have just had it confirmed from a cool British guy at the Danish occupy camp about dogs bollocks, and it looks like the moderators got a bit pissy at us. When in reality USA is becoming a police state. But let us not have this thread deleted by a pissy moderator.

Thanks... I guess?! Hehehe 😜

I've just upped some Gravis Ultrasound PnP drivers, courtesy of ProfessorProfessorson.

And over this weekend, I'll be putting together a categories type thing, to make the files easier to browse.

You rock, and again you deserve some serious credit for doing, what I could have done some months ago if there had not been a hiatus on the Linux server and what not from my side of things. But If it gets up, and running. I hope it is okay, that I will make a link to the site 😀 Cause my plan originally was making a server with all the drivers and stuff , and use my kick arse connection , so people could download them from a server that should be running 24/7. But anyway you rock 😀

Hey, it's the least I can do to give back to the community that's given me so much advice and insight in my retro hardware travels. Not to mention what a charming lot you are! 😀

Update:

Here's a sneak peek at the flashy new interface I'm cooking up:

http://www.vogonsdrivers.com/index2.php

Comments, questions, suggestions welcome!

Still to come is a method for assigning files into categories.

Very Nice, SquallStrife!

Unfortunately, I still didn't get the time to classify my first uploads. (Like for eg., Sound Blaster 1.5, Pro, Pro II etc. - Is it necessary, btw?)

When it's complete, you will be able to upload drivers, and give them categories and descriptions and stuff.

It's very close! 😀

I've uploaded Malik's files from the first post in this thread. Category and title/description editing is on the way... It's a bigger code project than I thought!

Malik, when surfing the web, I found SB16 drivers of this version (3 disks):
Sound Blaster 16 BASIC
SB16-FW-03-ENG (Revision 3)
Sound Blaster 16 Disk #1

is this already archived?
