Another one of these SCSI external CD-ROMs.. this time it came with the ridiculously hard to find PCMCIA cable. Only $15 too! Now I can use it with my old laptops,or use a HD50 to DB25 cable for my other retro computers that have SCSI.

I wanted one of those back in the day to go with my A1200, unfortunately the full kit with guaranteed to work in A1200 card cost nearly aws much as the machine. Ended up working out an IDE cable hack for a generic IDE

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Possibly, but you need the right cable. It's somewhat difficult to find the cable that has both ends correct. I guess a HD50 adapter could be used if it wasn't the right one. I also wanted to use the Panasonic card though, since I have the right drivers. I have another faster Panasonic drive that needed the same cable, so it was a much needed find to have a matching set of original hardware without using various adapters. Regardless, I picked up this whole kit for less than most SCSI adapters cost.

Unfortunately the Netpower UltraFX which showed up there like that I don't think is salvageable, but it makes for a neat looking paperweight 🙁

Is that power switch on the Apple II factory original and if yes: what in the world were they thinking putting it right in front of the other keys!? Blows my mind...

Yup! I've found most of the basic voodoo models there except for V1/V5, but still looking out for more 😀 Also found a Quantum3D Obsidian2 200SB not too long ago.

You're looking at the LED 😉 The power switch is on the back.

Apparently I won a ShuttleX PC Model SB61G2 v3 from 2005 or so for nz$40 on our local auction site. Looks looks like it takes a P4 or Celeron CPU. Nobody likes those 😉. The HDD is dead but that is totally fine as I have plenty of spares. Specs here:- http://global.shuttle.com/products/productsSp … c?productId=485 As time goes by it may well get matt black paint job and the yellowed beige optical drive will be replaced. Did I mention no one likes P4s?

Apparently 32-bit is dead and nobody likes P4s.
Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉

10 more years and people will complain that they can't find a decent P4 board.

Yes you are most likely correct. I've had a few 2.xGhz up to 4.x and had good service from from them. Intel changed the manufacturing process in the last bunch and are not bad at all rwt power usage. This one is my daily and i use it to monitor out securiity cameras and provide updates to the local Police on the crims up a bit and on the other side of the street from us. Never had an earlier one though. People seem to be just giving to me these days like they did with 486 and earlier class systems.

AppleDesign Powered Speakers M6082 in great condition. Little bit of cleaning and they will look like new. I'll pair them with my Apple Color Classic.

Sound card time 😀

Mozart Wave Table (with Oak Mozart 601 and OPL4)
Aztech MNSN-847 (with Aztech AZT2316R and Samsung wave table)
Logitech Soundman Games (Mediavision Jazz)
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz (Crystal 4630)

Mostly bought for curiosty - to see how bad the Oak drivers are, listen to the iffy Samsung wavetable on the AZT (I already have its older sibling with ICS wavetable), see how the Jazz compatability is. And the Santa Cruz... well, see how it compares to the Montego II.

Spoiler: Santa Cruz is better than Montego II in every way except A3D 2.0 and OPL3 which sucks on both anyway.

I picked up a Psion 5MX the other day and have been having fun playing Sim City on it 😀 Took quite a bit of effort to find a CF card that worked in it though!

Oh and also, it plays Doom 😁 https://twitter.com/stevec00ps/status/1400095913692086274

All in all, I'm quite happy with the newest addition to my collection. 😎 Just testing the waters at the moment, going to be loading games from .cas tape images before getting 1 of the addon cartridges later in the year (probably the MegaFlashROM SCC+ SD). I may even consider an MSX2 or MSX2+ in the future.

The MSX is a great little machine. In 2+ guise it is genuinely shocking at what it can pull off in terms of gaming.

If you intend to invest in the MSX scene, then my recommendation for the best, all-round expansion is the MegaFlashROM SCC+ available from: https://www.msxcartridgeshop.com/

Hard drive and floppy emulation, memory expansion and Konami sound cart emulation all in one.
