as for the patch, from what i could tell, it actually makes the game run even faster. and it contains a new (bigger) dos4gw which is dated 4 months older than the one on the CD, but i suspect it's actually a newer version and the other one probably got the newer date from being copied during development.
I've got a throttle blaster installed on my mmx retro rig , and I can clock the game down to 33mhz just using a potentiometer.
So I'm not sure thats the issue , weirdly the sequel works fine , and I'm guessing its using the same game engine but updated.
