I don't have a goog account and don't want one. On the rare occasion I wanted some app (eg. a carrier's app needed to activate service) I just downloaded an .APK from apkpure or some similar site.

Here in Spain we use an app for second-hand buying and selling called Wallapop. Some months ago, after an update, the app suddenly stopped working for me and only showed a login error. I tried everything I could think of and nothing fixed it.

If I downgraded to an older version it worked again, but with the older version I couldnt accept offers from customers. That feature apparently only works in the latest version of the app and is a must, many people do offers

After a while I finally discovered the reason: I was not logged in with any Google account on the phone. For some reason the new version of the app seems to check for that. Once I added a temporary Google account, the login error disappeared and the app started working again.

I still dont really know what exactly it checks or why it requires that, but I had been very busy with work and didnt have time to investigate how to bypass it properly. For now the temporary account is the only workaround.

In the end it feels like the same problem as always: or is the OS or the apps that forcing you to do something you dont want, like look bootloader or having account, etc

A lot of apps do that and I hate it. Apparently for many of them it's fixed if you use microG instead of the official Play Services. I just use webapps/proxies if the official app doesn't work. like Nora for social media.

Wallapop can be used smoothly from a browser. Like all those platforms. So, complaining about how those applications work, it's each one's choice, because there's an official alternative.

wallapop web in a cellphone is a pain. In computer is fine, but in phone, upload and edit articles is slow, and give problem with payments. I need to use for a week while the app was not working, and almost died, specially with upload pictures from camera and using the GPS, that in web work so bad...

I dont know if they already implement, but last time i check wallapop web not work with QR codes, if you send or someone send qr of a article, not work in web. Is terrible, but even in person some people refuse to pay in cash, bizun or qr... crazy... but i want my money
