I found that FSMP doesn't play midis if it's minimised to tray. Is there an option to allow it to launch from systray and play when I click on a mid file?

I think it's fixed in newest test version:

BTW, FSMP's own topic is here on Vogons:

Hi all im looking for a really nice easy to use midi player for both dos win 3x and win 98
im looking for something that lets me choose to output to a Roland SC-88VL
i would like some software that show the keyboard and notes that are being played.

I've been using and enjoying MFPLAY.EXE for DOS. Features patch configuration for SC-88 in native and in SC-55 mode. You may also create your own patch configurations manually using our device's patch list. By default, shows a keyboard with notes being played.

High fidelity recordings of '90s PRO MIDI music and game soundtracks on real hardware

I have never heard of 'MFPLAY.EXE' and Google cannot give meaningful results either. Do you have more info about this DOS Midi program?

It's probably this one:

or an older version here:

A few from Japan, they need a midi device (even on a serial cable), no FM sound, the first two need DOS/V:

This last one works in ega or vga mode, and supports pc speaker too.
