256MB DDR-2s????? I can't find uses for 512s. Can't think of anything that does dual channel that you'd want 98 on, that many other things wouldn't need so much working around that capping a pair of 512s or 1GBs would be much trouble.

I got some 256MB sticks for my Pentium 4 PIAGP system. It runs dual channel.

The laptop I am going to be setting up with Win98SE also runs dual channel.

I could go the easier route I guess and just use the R.Loew RAM patch but what it the fun in that when I can get 256MB DIMMs and SODIMMs ?

I did find some single sticks but they were overseas and were not cheap. I also found some on various other websites bit they were stupid expensive.

The lower speed DDR2 is easier to find in 256MB capacity but DDR2-800 seems to be pretty rare in this size.

Well, since we've made it to the 2000 pages, I might as well show off something 2000 based.

Today I managed to find a $40 Gateway 2000 P5-75, which I only paid $37 for. I wasn't expecting to get much beyond an AT style case and maybe a working power supply for the price of shipping a case. As it turns out, I got a completely working system that really only needed some thorough cleaning. The picture below is post-cleaning.

Needless to say it cleaned up well.

It came with 32 MB of mixed EDO and FPM (which has been changed to 60ns EDO), a proper Pentium 75 (which has been changed to my P-100 for the sake of having 66MHz as the system clock), a SB16 Vibra S (CT2890), S3 Trio 64 (STB Powergraph 64) and an absolutely cute 8-bit ISA 14.4 modem. The 1083MB HDD is also working, as is the floppy drive.

My only question now is what I should do with it. I've been trying to get my SD-IDE adapter to work, but the integrated IDE doesn't seem to like my Sintechi adapter. I can get it detected with a PCI IDE card, which is more annoying than hard to deal with. I do also wonder if the Vibra, which does have a branded Yamaha OPL chip, is worth considering over my other OPL cards. I also need to figure out what the actual motherboard is so that I can update things. I assume it's an FX, but I'm not certain, as SB82437FX-66 is the only chip name that stands out.

I'm selling 256MB DDR2 SO-DIMM sticks for 1€ each and nobody wants them. Am I asking too much?

That's a great find! One of the less common Vibra cards with genuine OPL3.

I think that may have been the model which I had in my very first PC, but I can't be certain since I never opened it before I sold it.

Not that special, I got one of those (with IDE interface). I also have a CT3930 that has a Vibra16 and a EMU8000 and an OPL3, got that one new inbox. I didn't get those today, so I shouldn't actually post images... But I agree, it's better to find things for free 😀

Try putting split rings through the end hole and selling them on Etsy for $3 as keyrings. 🤣

This thing. I have no idea if it works or not, but for less than 10 Euro I couldn't say no, especially because it's design appealed to me. If it does work it will be perfect for 8bit machines and consoles.

Good score, a nice 15khz jobbie is always worth having, maybe get CGA into it too. I have one good 'un and a "Monitor TV" that the Amigas, N64s, Coco2, joystick repro games and whatever else all have to share.

I got this as untested so I test it tomorrow.
Its about 3 years older than the motherboard I'm going to interface with it.
I decided to do this because IDE ones slow down other devices on the same ribbon and I haven't got an IDE port supporting sound card. (I don't think there are many for a PCI only motherboardor at least I haven't found one)
There are more modern versions that are verified as working but the price omg its like buying gold.
If it works I'll have a cool YAMAHA burner with 2mb burn proof cache.
Man its as old as i was as a teenager so I'm not giving my hopes up but at least i'll still get a SCSI ribbon!

I also have a Matsushita Panasonic Vintage 12x Speed Cd-rom Drive Cr-584-b (not pictured) from 1997 to test that i've had stored for at least 13 years.(forgot about it)
These would look good in the beige box together but I may be using the IDE for a faster speed DVD burner and the matsPana would slow down the data speed of the bus.
I see I've used this one as a coffee coaster at some stage as it has coffee cup rings on its underside .... a bad habbit 😀
If it works I may sell it or use it in a pentium 1 or older.
I remember these things cost a fortune and the dissapointment when I first owned an IDE CDROM didn't make discs it had to be a cd writer which cost even more off the shelf.
They are so fast these days but I like the older ones because the data discs don't roar loudly. I know theres tools to slow them down but now I don't have to use them.

Crossing my fingers for you that it works. Though the late 20th century ones always seemed sturdier than the early 21st century ones which seem to have a 20 disk limit or some crap before they die. Mind you they were built to sell at a quarter the price by then.

I have one of these too, I know there's different models, with and without RGB

coincidentally I bought this one yesterday from a fellow local collector ^^
the front bezel is cracked, but the tube is in wonderful condition, no convergence or geometry issues at all it seems, and it's one of those that has digital RGB

Would the Vibra be worth using over my other OPL equipped cards?

Got myself a ASUS V8200 Deluxe, funny thing is the seller told me it's a GF3 Ti200 but when I checked HWInfo & GPU Z it was a Geforce 3 200/460 Mhz.

Well I will order one cut to size - I guess it's just ordinary acrylic plate, isn't it? My monitor has switchable composite and chroma/luma... no RGB though. I havn't checked if it works yet. But even if not it still will look nice on the shelf ;D

Yep, works like a charm !
