Yesterday I came home with my largest haul ever. Several tens of kilograms of cards.
I did not knew exactly what I was buying when i met the seller because everything was packed.
I had a quick look at home, mostly early 90's things. I must admit i'm a bit overwhelmed. Probably 2 years worth of testing and cleaning.

So far :

• Boxed P5A-B
• 4/5 other S7/SS7 boards. Some seems new
• ~15 other mainbords up to ~ Athlon / P4 era
• A 286 system on ISA board. Requires a passive 16bit ISA backplane to work.
• Tens of ISA sound cards (Some looks new)
• Tens of graphics cards, mostly ISA and VLB. Some early PCI.
• A Voodoo 1 + manual
• Tens of IO cards ISA and VLB
• Vintage hard drives
• A Packard bell system (unknown config)
• A lot of floppies and CD (unknown content)
• Old computer magazines
• Less interesting stuff (cables, floppy drives, modems, coolers… )

I will need some time to sort everything out but will need some help for identification because there are some mysterious boards.
Also, of course, everything is untested... so fingers crossed.

New GPU to replace integrated S3 Trio on 120 mhz pentium board. Not sure if upgrade or sidegrade though 😁

Today I've got a (almost new) HP CD-Writer Plus for my latest project 😀

Might give you a boost with vquake. The 2D part is less than renowned for speed though. In general they are supposed to be very light on the CPU for their 3D abilities, so while someone having it on a faster CPU might think of it as a decelerator, it might speed up things for a 120

Can always apply the Vbios patch from Diamond to upgrade it to a V2200, did it to mine and its a nice early 3D card.

Found this at a thrift store for $2! A serial Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro. Haven't tested it yet, but for the price, no reason not to pick it up.

I managed to pick up the bulk of the parts I'd need to build an entire early-00s system and a copy of System Shock 2 all still in the shrink-wrap along with a "mystery box" of random old junk that so far seems to at least include a couple of neat CPUs (Pentium Pro 200 and AMD 5x86-133), at least 3-4 Slot 1 motherboards, a Socket 7 PCChips M530 with repairable damage in the VRM area, a Number Nine AGP, a "SIMM-Plus" (Looks to be a board allowing you to plug 4xSIMMs into 1x slot?) and what looks to be at least a couple of COAST modules for AU$300 total from a closing PC store yesterday.

The early-00s system specs would be an Athlon64 2800+ s754, DFI LanParty NF3 250Gb, 512MB Kingspec DDR-500, All-In-Wonder Radeon 8500DV and a ThermalTake Soprano Case with an included 430w PSU. The LanParty needs some of the VRM caps replaced but once that's done I'm hoping I might be able to build a decent Win9x/early XP retro PC to compliment my late-XP one.

Id love to see a 433, but I feel any that show up are likely to be stupidly expensive ... much like Pr200 K5s are

You just need to get creative .. under the bed also works, or under the kitchen sink and deep in the back of the cupboards, in a pinch the chest freezer is also an option.

2x Xbox 360 and PS2 slim (latter not pictured) - white faceplate is MS serviced Falcon, full black unit is Jasper - 60 RON

9800GT from the bundle mentioned above - needs quite some work as the PCI-E header was mangled (not that it looks any better now, but at least it's somewhat straight now 😁)

GTS250 from the bundle mentioned above - was full of land dirt near the output ports. Cleaned with rubbing alcohol and Zippo fluid, works fine! Just needs new thermal paste and it should be good to go.

Not pictured:

- Samsung HD753LJ HDD - needs new SATA port soldered in - 30 RON
- WD Blue 500GB - also dirty, needs cleaning and testing - came from the same bundle as 8I845PE-RZ.
- PS2 Slim SCPH-75004 - had a surprise Singstar Suomi Rock disc inside - from the same bundle as the Falcon unit (the Jasper was bought for 20 RON, separately)

I recently bought a Commodore socket 4 system in an enlight 6562 case in reasonable condition. It contained an intel batman's revenge motherboard with a pentium 60 on it, and 40MB memory. Accompanied by a cirrus logic pci graphicscard and an isa network card. De hdd was dead, and didn't test the weird looking chinon CD-rom player.
Paid 40 euros excluding shipping for it. I think quite a good deal for a relatively rare system.

Some of the more mundane things that I lost in the fire were old issues of PC magazines, and a number of TigerDirect catalogs from the early 2000s, paper catalogs which captured a moment frozen in amber. It would always be a fun trip down memory lane.

Jasper is one to keep. For both 360, you have to take them apart to get dust out. The shell with EMI shielding hides lot of dust hiding between shells and plates. and clean old paste off the heatsinks and both CPU and GPU dies. Use good paste like Artic Silver 5 or Noctua NT-H2 will do. Keep the x-clamps but bend them little more for more pressure. The 360 power supplies does have small blower in each. Take them apart starting with prying feet off it is combination of rubber with friction fit plastic plug. Under each feet is T10 security screw. Once apart, you need to clean out dust, that requires taking off two ducts, one of them has a blower fan in it. Take fan apart and oil the bearing.

You need to have two tools one for taking apart 360 and one tool to unclip the x-clamp hooks. Cheap to get them. And two torx security scewdrivers or bits in T8 and T10, please always have security feature so you can be prepared. The PS4 and PS5 requires T8 security screwdriver too.

I know, must've opened at least seven 360s of various versions - Xenon, a lot of Falcons, and two Jaspers as of now.

As for paste, MX6 is my go to.

Nice bit with the PSUs though - those are awfully loud compared to the 360s themselves, would love to silence them if possible.
