Well you have to compare about what we pay here for retro parts. I paid about 77 US$ which is high, but not stupid high. If you have any retro chipsets missing and need to be logged in the vgamuseum, I would pay those prices all day long. That ones wasn't missing but I wanted that for my personal collection.

Does the 光宇 have any meaning that should be logged on the website?

Among the best DOS/2D performers, that honor goes to the S3 Trio3D/2X. With VBE 2.0 onboard, stable Windows 3.x drivers and even crazier amount of video modes that one could dream of, including support for both 24bpp and 32bpp video modes at the same time which is a rarity. 😀

Still, early nVidia hardware have good DOS compatibility and with UniVBE (and some patching for TNT2 and GeForce cards), you get proper 15bpp and some low-resolution VESA video modes that aren't available out of the box.

I picked up two good graphics cards at the flea market.

No.1: Diamond Viper V330 PCI, with Video Out, tested it on my Hippo-15 and Cyrix 5x86-120 and it worked great, especially with built-in VBE3.0 support.

No.2: Number Nine Motion 331, this card is a little confusing to me, I see that most of the photos of this card have 40ns or 45ns of video memory on it, and this one I got is 50ns.

I use a PCI Riva128 in my Cx5x86 DOS PC and it is the best DOS graphics card I've tried in that system.

光宇 is the name of the seller, an e-waste recycler. The store has a Ruten (Taiwan's equivalent of eBay) account with many used electronics for sell. Its pricings, however, are much higher than similar e-waste outlets.

I'm not sure if it's okay to link its auction account here so I won't post it, but here is its location with Google Street View. The sign post says "Electronic cables and component recycling. Business computers and printers. Systems, components, maintenance; used computers for sell."

The cheapest card (top) works fine in a PCI slot, but in an ISA slot, not so much.

or at least cut the ISA part off.

So there are two non-compatible versions of mediabus, 1.2 and 2.0. This is a 2.0 and I was thinking maybe a P/I-P55T2P4. I am lead to believe that the PCI part will function in a regular slot.

Very cool looking cards. It's too bad the links you have don't work as I'd like to see what info they have. I tried them in two different browsers and neither of them will load, it just times out.

Managed to find a PianoBox synthesizer from miditech. It has a SAM9733 with CleanWave32 (at least to my ears...) @ 4Mbits rom. Sounds nice in some games and a bit off in others.

Inside we can find a Dream SAM 9733 daughterboard. Probably the 2 connectors are for power+ttl uart (J2), and audio out (j1) . Maybe it could be adapted to a waveblaster interface. All for the low price of 25€.

Also found a beautiful Music Quest MQX-16S @ amibay. It was missing the breakout cable, but I managed to fabricate my own, and @ 50€ plus shipping I cant really complain.

Cant find any manual for this card, and info on it is scarce. It is somewhat similar to the more common IH9MQ9, but the MCU is odd (same family but different pinout/ports). Can one use the firmware from the more common PCMIDI ? Anyone know if there is a more recent eprom version for this card?

Found also a cool motherboard, the Elitegroup FX3000. It is capable of using either 386 or 486 cpu's and has a vendor specific local bus.

Wow, that's cool! I wonder if the board from inside that thing could be adapted to connect to a wavetable header. I would be curious to know what the pinout of those connectors is. 😁

Got a nice GD5429 ISA with 2MB of 60ns video memory that can be used to replace the GD5422 that is now in use.
