Here is another I made...

This one is based on the IBM PCjr startup screen, I tried to match it to an image of it from the manual as close as possible (this is from when I first got my PCjr)

The following ones I did not make but are OEM desktops from the 90's that I've hoarded. 🤣

I threw this together in Blender earlier this year. I could possibly change the texture of the top of the chip, but depends on time.

It looks like you found the one torindkflt was looking for in the first linked thread by alexanrs. 😀

BTW, I remember this background well, I sold refurbished Compaqs, HPs and Gateways for a local computer store in this era. There were other tints of this besides gray too. I think I still have some recovery discs or recovery disc info to Compaqs from this era. 😀

Lovely thread!

You can find many 3dfx wallpapers here on 3dfx.ch. They include wallpapers like:
3dfx_wallpaper_023.jpg 3dfx_wallpaper_022.jpg 3dfx_wallpaper_020.jpg 3dfx_wallpaper_004.jpg

I also made my own wallpapers back in the day:
XGI VolariDUO link for 1024, 1280 and 1600 versions.

And various 3dfx themed wallpapers. Click here for the all wallpapers in different resolutions. A quick selection:

Here's the one you are looking for btw. It's one of my favs since we had a Compaq Deskpro EP back in the late 90's that was a pretty good PC.

Glad you like it. Next up I plan to do a version based on the V5 5500 AGP box art (orange head). This one is based on the supposed voodoo 5 6000 box art. I used the v5 6000 box art because the colors are less tiring and I like it a little better.

I also plan to do Voodoo 2, 3 and banshee wallpapers based on original boxart, as well as geforce 2, geforce 3 and geforce 4 titanium wallpapers - but I don't really like quality of the nvidia promotional materials for those video cards so It's kind of hard to find materials for them. I'll probably settle for something heavily inspired from the Geforce FX "cinematic computing" wallpaper.

Here's one for you lucky few who happen to own an use a V5 6k - as well as fans of the card 😀

Based on the V5 6000 box art replica:

Done with the Voodoo 5 5500 wallpapers - these are based on a wallpaper or promotional material / poster witch resembles the card's box art. For the PCI version I had to manually adjust colours and paint the mint and blue hazes on the side, so it's not the same as the original, but similar. I could not find a large / quality picture of that box art to use so I had to improvise... Anyway, hope you like them:

This is an awesome thread. I wonder if it would be a good idea to post these on vogonsdrivers?

A couple cool ones I found on Deviant Art (well, two variations on one theme.) "Modern artsy" background with a Pentium III logo based on the somewhat-recent Intel CPU badges.

Pentium III Blue

Pentium III Green

The logo itself is available here: Pentium III custom logo by ArRoW-4-U

And there's a whole gallery of similar "updated logo" wallpapers: http://arrow-4-u.deviantart.com/gallery/48924986/intel

You are most welcome.

Oh - and I take requests. If you have a particular piece of hardware or brand in mind you'd like to see made into a wallpaper let me know.

I don't know about that, but it would be convenient if it was made sticky so we can easily find it on top of marvin.

They look good, but I would have preferred if the author based them on the original intel pentium III logo.

Also, it would be cool if an admin would put all pictures in the first post of the thread - like I did with the thread I had that got merged with this one - for convenience.

Someone should make some MS-DOS wallpapers. One idea: just a black wallpaper with command prompt.
