Small update on the dx8 build, I already had a sb live 5.1 sb0060 mounted inside, but I was able to find a full platinum set so I mounted that. This finally closed the gaping hole in the front due to missing 5.25 cover.

Nice, alot of my rigs have the front panel,
I've used the optical out in the front panel a few times but it's main job is just to look sexy, and as you say does a great job if missing covers.

And it's also convenient for plugging my headphones that have 6.3mm jack, without needing to add a 3.5mm adapter, just stick it right in
