I'm considering purchasing this card from a local online seller. It appears to be a Sound Blaster (Pro/16?) Clone of some sort, with genuine OPL3. The main chip is covered by a sticker, and doesn't resemble anything I've seen before. Does anyone know anything more about this card, and whether or not it's worthwhile having?

The only remotely useful pictures I can find are from an eBay listing, and they're not that great...

Any info about this card you may have would be much appreciated.

Looking up the part number, there is a BEC branded one on eBay as well for a lot less. Same exact card.

Not sure I would spend anywhere near even the lower price, especially since it only has OPL3.

Found a picture of it without the sticker.

All it is, is a MAD16 based card. Looks like a slightly different revision according to the text on the card, but if you compare the FCC ID, you will see it is the same thing.

Thanks very much for the helpful info.

So are these MAD16 based cards any good?

Do they have good compatibility with DOS games?

How is the sound quality in general?

Do they have SB16 support, or just SB/SB Pro?

The card is currently priced at around $15 all-in, but I don't think it has really been tested properly by the seller, so I'm considering making an offer if it's a worthwhile card to have.

The chip covered by a sticker is most likely an OPTi 82C928, as that is to my knowledge the only one having that size. The card is more or less a copy of the Oak Technology Mozart-16 OPL3. It does Adlib, SB 1.0, 2.0, Pro 2.0, and WSS. No SB16...

Compatibility should be good. I own a couple of similar cards and they all work well under plain DOS. They require a driver to be loaded, though.
