I've a bit of a strange situation here....
What I'm seeing:
The system will only post with my MX440
When attempting to launch any application requiring 3d, the app will crash (driver too I believe) and then nothing will recognize that I have a 3d accelerator until I reboot
With ANY other graphics card (PCI or AGP) there is no screen activity and no beep codes
What I've tried:
Removing all drives (Optical, Floppy, Storage)
Removing all other add-in cards (PCI USB, PCI Sound, PCI Controller Card)
Many bios resets
Swapping memory modules
Loosening the motherboard screws in case some how the card wasn't seating properly due to position in the case
Other Video Cards I've Tried:
Rage 128 Ultra AGP
Radeon 9800 Pro AGP
Voodoo 3 2000 AGP
S3 Virge/DX PCI
I'm wondering if this is an agp voltage issue? Looking at my motherboards manual, it appear that setting is tied to the processor speed? I'm also not clear on whether or not you have to move jumpers on the board to set the agp slot to speed (1x 2x 4x)? (I've attached the manual for your review)
I'd be so grateful for any suggestions!
UPDATE:
I just pulled a Radeon 9800SE 256mb AGP from my P4 XP system and it posted. So.... another interesting thing that is probably a complete coincidence is that both cards that have posted have been DVI cards. I'm so confused. 😒
