Well.. this is a blast from the past.

I did this back in the day before anybody was even talking about it. Saw that the Audigy 2 driver packs included support for the EMU10K chips and was like.. ok.. lame Creative.. let's just see if this works.. and it did.

Anyway, I dug up some old pages that talked about it as well as a guide on how to do it AND the driver patch file to add support for pretty much all the Live! and Audigy 1 and Audigy 2 cards, including OEM models out there.

Could you help me out? I cant find (or I do not understand on those links) how to install Audigy 2 ZS SB0350 (OEM Dell?) on Win98SE.

Interesting, gotta try this out, not too long ago I bought a cheap 2 ZS, only to find out its HP OEM so couldnt make it work properly on 98se. I've put it up for sale, to use the money to this time get a proper retail model, but if I can get it to work with this that would be nice.

BTW I have a Audigy 2 ZS Notebook as well, a pcmcia card for laptops, it has a real 2zs chip inside afaik, but no 9x driver on the CD, I wonder if it can be made to work on 98 with this?

Get the Audigy 2 ZS CD from here:
http://vogonsdrivers.com/getfile.php?fileid=5 … menustate=43,36

Then copy the whole thing to a folder on the computer you want to install the card on. You will need to first burn a CD or extract the files in the ISO to a thumb drive or whatever in order to get it on the computer running 98.

Then copy ctcomp.exe - linked in my first post to the "\Audio\Setup" folder in the folder where you extracted the install CD to. Then run ctcomp.exe
Then run setup.exe and you should be in business. Make sure to select the vxd drivers. They work better for 9x/ME.

Let me know if this doesn't work and I will figure out step by step instructions and update this post.

Also, I am pretty sure the PCMCIA card will not work in 9x/ME. I tried a bunch of different things and never could get it to work with the drivers for the PCI Audigy 2.

It didn´t work. No drivers i tried recognized the card. And i tried lots of them. Only KXproject drivers were hable to be instaled. The card works very well with them, so i´m good.
This seems to be an isseu with Audigy cards. The identifier becomes corrupted...i read that somewere.

Do you know that KXproject has no EAX? Let me tell you how I installed the VXD drivers on my Audigy 2 ZE on Win98SE:
I achieved success installing SB0358 Audigy 2 ZS (Dell OEM), on Win98SE and official VXD Drivers with EAX doing other things:
1- I went to AUDIO/DRIVERS/VXD and decompressed VXD.cab on the same folder, so all files are in VXD folder.
2- Then forced the installation going to Device Manager and manually selecting the INF.
3- Card got installed, got sound, but no EAX and of course no applications.
4- Then went to AUDIO/DRIVERS and run CTZAPXX and it let me choose VXD or WDM drivers, so I clickd VXD and success, card got EAX and got properly installed.
5- Installed manually EaxCon-Diagnose-CTEq and some more apps.
6- Success! Could be more happy!
