I recently came across 2x 3dfx cards in a couple job lots of old pc parts for next to nothing and want to make a more period correct build than my current P4/GF4 system , I never owned a Voodoo 3 back in the day going from a P1/voodoo 1 to celery 300a/ PIII voodoo 2 then sli then moved to GF2/3/4 and Ati 9800 cards later so I really want to build one around the V3 3000 AGP one I have.
So anyway , I started looking around at boards and cpu's etc and of course the AGP 3.3v issue comes up and I think I'm just looking for advice on what you reckon would be best suited , an i815 P3 or an Athlon Socket A and really any recommendations for particular boards because looking at the socket A boards especially it seems like a minefield as to what supports AGP 3.3v and what doesn't , even when they have what looks like a Universal AGP slot they don't necessarily support 3.3v after looking in the manuals online.
Like I said , I never came across this issue at the time due to never having a V3 agp , it's a risk getting these parts because I have no idea if it even works yet as I have no way of testing it , the PCI v3 2000 works just fine so if it ends in disaster I can just use that I suppose.
This was the joblot I got in the pics below (ignore the GF4 , that's out of my p4 98se build when I swapped it with the V3 2000 pci to test it)
Also , as you'll notice the PCI Brackets are missing from the V3 cards , I have no idea why , I know it's a stretch but any idea where I might get some from or maybe someone has come across a direct fit from another old card ?
I could quite easily make one with a bit of drill/ dremel time but it's never gonna really look right is it ?
