but it happens much to often for playing stonekeep enjoyably
Well then bad luck.
Actually luck seems to increase a bit wrt Stonekeep 😉 Lets see...
About that Screamer: the crashes are not caused by any recent update,
in fact i'm not even sure if it wouldn't happen with the normal core as well
(maybe somebody with a really tough processor could check that).
for stonekeep, the normal core is fast enough for me, it doesnt need 30 fps,
for screamer the dyncore is absolutly needed since I get only 9 -10 fps, with the normal core, but with the new dyncore 40 -70 fps
stonekeep seems to be fixed now 😀
screamer still crashes 🙁
Well yes it won't magically fix itself...
dragonmaster: Sorry, but your posts are not very helpful (that's why wd is resorting to ironic answers, i'm afraid) 😁
It would be most helpful if you could give more precise information, instead of posting just abbreviated sentences. C'Mon, i'm no native english speaker myself, but i'm trying hard to give all information that i think is necessary in order to fix or identify a problem.
What did you do to get Stonekeep fixed? Install a new CVS? If so, which version? Did you change your configuration? Re-Install the game? The DOSBox coders may be coding wizards, but they cannot read your mind, or get information about your setup via a crystal ball or something.
Speak to us, dragonmaster.
Stonekeep was fixed on purpose thanks to dragonmaster's report.
But Screamer will be left unfixed. There's no regression from the
changes toward the next release, so it can be anything. Most likely
some timing issue as they happily overwrite their code.
Ugh, sorry for the interference. I wasn't aware of any additional communication - by reading the posts in this thread, i was getting the impression that dragonmaster's replies were a little on the short side. Didn't mean to be rude or something.
no extra communixation, just plain reading this list :
Magic carpet 2 stilll crashes in high res so it could be the same bug as screamer
Nope, isn't.
yes magic carpet won't be fixed either. The bug there is known though. In the last builds the crash should be much less frequent though. (and setting sound to soundblaster pro works around it)
Water flows down the stream
How to ask questions the smart way!
Some fiddling it looks like the mc1 and mc2 things aren't related, not sure.
dragonmaster does mc2 crash less frequently now (it didn't crash for me
at all), and do the sound settings have any effect on it?
Im testing, with sb16 i crash definatly , with gus, too, with sbpro so far no crashes but i have to test more
now i got a crash with sbpro t:
Dos/32a runtime (6001): exception 00h
Identity: integer division by zero at 0830:001447BC.
Untrelocated crash address 1:000307AC
Module Name = etc etc etc.
the crashing intensity hasnt changed, with sbpro it crash a little less, but I have no proof
Ok thanks. If you have fun/already did that maybe you can try it with
sound completely disabled.
Does it happen after longer playing (2 levels or so)?
I test always the same level(s) : The crash happen often in underground levels and in levels where you fight against many other magician enemys, also when your castle is very big (class 7) the chance of crashing is higher.
I ll test with no sound but i guess it will crash too
I forgot sometimes a grafig bug is happenning before the game crashs.
