Hello,

I never read a lot about different VGA connection standards and lately I was reading about this subject and some cables lacking a PIN for newer monitors. I'd like to ask you if there are problems using a full pin VGA cable into a last generation VGA LCD with a modern / older video card or instead if it'd be better to use the right cable with or without that PIN?
Also about old LCD monitor, I got one with the EDID data probably broken or similar, beside the not-Plug&Play monitor sw forcing options or disabling the EDID reading, would hw disabling directly the serial data cable PIN transform the monitor into a old style one that'd need manual settings by software?

Thanks

It shouldn't make any difference other than you won't be able to put in the cable into older video cards etc. where that pin is blocked.

I have disconnected the EDID signals on some cables just for this purpose, as windows will lock out most resolutions otherwise, that the monitor I am using in perfectly capable of showing.

Thanks, I suppose sometimes on old monitors EDID data get broken or something like that and depending on brands/models I had different problems getting the factory specific resolutions/freqs loaded automatically.
