I've put a Pentium 4 3GHz into an ATX case for this build so I can run Windows 98se and some Dos games but only for Dos games that need more power than my 486 66MHz as I found for example running Bioforge is better on this PC. I have a question please about running two or more fans from the one chassis fan header on the motherboard because this Asus P4S800-MX SE has just one header for a chassis fan and one CPU header, I know the header cant be overloaded and the amps and watts have to be within a limit but I don't know these maximums and the manual doesn't say this for the chassis header but it does say that the CPU header can be:

"The CPU fan connector support cooling fans of 350mA~740mA (8.88W max.) or a total of 1A~2.22A (26.64W max.) at +12V"

I have just a Zalman cooler for the CPU on the CPU header and the three fans Ide like to put on the chassis header are:

NF-A6x25 FLX 12V 1.44W 0.12A
NF-A4x20 FLX 12V 0.6W 0.05A
NF-R8 Redux 1800 RPM 12V 0.72W 0.06A

would the chassis header be like the CPU header and be able to have these three fans on the chassis header as I see the amps and watts are in the limits but I'm not sure the header can support 3 fans at 12V each or I'm fine with using the Redux and the NF-A4x20 together and then run the NF-A6x25 from the power supply.

I wouldn't worry about those three fans on one header. Just from a cable management perspective I'd run the top fan directly from the PSU.
Always love an mATX board in a bigtower though!😄

Doornkaat did you say its ok for three on one sorry I'm not sure, I will put the rear case fan straight to the power supply if I have to but I don't have any adapters so I would have to make one from a donner cable. This P4 motherboard was the only one I found at the time about two months ago with Windows 98se compatibility I could put a secret stash of money in there with the room left over but it will have to be just coins at the moment eh wait no just in case they touch something electronic lolol. One thing I found with a P4 is that in Dos there was game load stutters and crashes, I spent hours in the Bios changing PCI clock and latency timers then I got it right by lowering the CPU speed to the lowest the Bios can go 1.5GHz and Dos games run now and I haven't tried MoSlow yet but Throttle.exe doesn't work on this P4 it freezes the PC.

Some things you might have noticed from the pictures, the 5 1/4 floppy is not connected I ran out of plastic white face plates for the front thats also why there is an exhaust fan on the front panel under the 5 1/4 floppy, this motherboard didnt have a hole for one of the screws its on the right of the bottom PCI so there is a chunk of square rubber there for when I have to install cards, this case came up pretty good because when I got it there was stickers all over the front with a bunch of marks but a clean and polish with a buffer pad later has brought it back to life. Has anyone successfully got a CT4810 to work in 98se and Dos I'm having no success with this card.

Yes, I meant that operating those three fans on one fan header of that mainboard generation should not be a problem.👍

I would just personally connect the top fan to the PSU directly for easier cable management.
Or get a 5 1/4 bay fan controller as long as those are still around to replace the floppy drive. The board probably does not offer fan speed controll so that may be useful.

Ok thanks, I cant really put anything that sticks out from the front face panel like a fan controller with knobs as the front cover, when it is closed there is not much room. Im surprised with this Bios's settings there is not much for overclocking or fan speeds but it has a good chipset "SiS" and works well with 98se

Yeah, starting with Northwood Pentium 4 systems make for really good overkill Win9x machines and decent DOS machines with the right PCI sound card. 😃👍

Another good reason for a P4 is 98se installs a lot faster and when you have to reinstall 98se from wrong drivers over and over helps, just a quick question Doornkaat is your user name Doornkaat because you own cats? Is it "door" and "n" and "kaat" so door n kaat (cat) because you are a slave to your cat too? I have two cats one has three legs and im always being yelled at when they want in and out so I was thinking of installing a cat flap

Funny, recently TrashPanda pointed out the door and cat thing as well. 😄
There's no connection to cats. The name is that of a liquor brand. 😅
I'm not that creative when picking out online names - I saw an advert while registering and used the name. I think it's a Dutch family name originally.
