Replace the microswitches using omron brand, a microswitch that lasts. This fixed my razar laser mouse and now I need to source a correct height roller encoder several years later.

It was in essence a design flaw. But even if affected, it will probably work fine for a year or 2.
There is also an optical version called the Collector Edition 2007 which may not have this issue. Mine had a different issue though with the scrollwheel which I ended up never being able to fix somehow so I ended up not using this mouse much at all meaning that IF it has this same issue, it hasn't had any time to develop it. I used mine for a few weeks or so at most, then put it back in the (cookie jar like) bin.

EDIT: I checked and I didn't put it back in the tin itself but back into the black box the tin originally came with. I think because I didn't want to push all the cables back in (I didn't want the cables to get bend too much etc). And at one point in time I'll have to get a bit more serious and try a proper install for it. Now that I've had it in my hands again I want to use it again xD
I also went ahead and checked some online videos of the mouse and holy goddamn crap, people pay a lot of money for a brand new one these days O.0
The only reason I got it was because I loved my Boomslang so much regardless of its flaws, it's by far the most expensive mouse I ever bought (second most expensive is proly some OEM leftover €5 mouse without any warranty or something 🤣). And for some reason I love the shape of that mouse. I sincerely hope Razer will make more of these, the Boomslang definitely triggers that nostalgia-feel for me. I still remember, from all those years ago, the first time I started using my first Boomslang when I said "This isn't a mouse? This is a god damn tiger!" xD 😜

Probably not used much.
If excessively used they last about 2-3 years until the mouse buttons (usually the left one, if you're right handed) get stuck.
I had three Boomslang (one original + two Terratec) and all developed the same issues.

Logitech Z-3. Beautiful set. Cast aluminium stands, aluminium front plates, feels like a premium product. I guess these are about 20 years old? I remember seeing these things when Pentium 4 was new.

I didn't dare to power them on yet. There must be a reason why someone threw this nice set in the trash. Maybe test it outdoors, to be on the safe side.

Edit: Tested them, absolutely nothing wrong with them. Even the pots are not scratchy. Sound is pretty decent. These definately go into use somewhere.

people just throw things away when they are considered 'old', or if someone gets inspired by minimalism and thinks that means throwing everything away, or the object doesn't go within the new decor and so on

whether something works or not is only part of the decision

they mostly wont even give to charity or put on freecycle, easier to just throw it

I'm glad some, like you, rescue things and find them a purpose again

And nice about this, it does have cache for the 386sx or something!

Yeah, it's one of those Tadiran 3.6v lithium batteries you usually see in Macs.

No idea what the CPU is, the heat sink is epoxied on and I don't have an ISA backplane board to try and test it.

EvieSigma, i'm fairly certain you only need the 5v rail to get some life out of that SBC. +-12v to use the serial ports.

Craigslist freebie: a 2011 Macbook Pro. No charger included, so I'll have to buy one to find out if it works. Wish me luck.

Looks more like a TNT2 M64. Especially the way the solder dots for the 16MB variant are partially overlapped by the location for the memory chips of the 32MB variant are very typical for M64 cards. TNT2 usually has a different memory layout.
