Does anyone know if X-fi fatality edition bracket is compatible with sb live! card?
X-fi original cable won't fit but i could use standard ide cable instead.

Thanks.
So it seems that they are not indeed compatible 🙁.
And I think X-fi is not compatible with windows 98.

Get a Live! Drive IR and put on the faceplate of a X-Fi Drive.
Or get a Audigy 2 or 2ZS wich have the connector needed for X-Fi drives.

No it's not.
Audigy is the last with official driver support.
But there are are modified drivers for Audigy 2.
So the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro is the last one you can use in Win98.

Both the regular Audigy 2 and the ZS version have Win98 drivers on the official install CD.

There is no need to make any modifications to get this working. Just pop the CD in and follow the instructions on the screen.

Oh really? I thought you'll need modified drivers.
Good to know.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but what is the digital i/o card being referred to here? I can't find it anywhere. I found a CT4770 device but that doesn't look like it has optical out on it. I would love to find one of these simply for the optical out. If anyone has one that they are willing to sell then please contact me.

Thanks!

Try to find on Aliexpress or another shop "SPDIF out bracket", you will find something like this:

You must connect to pin 29, pin 30 and +5v on pin 1

Went through my box of stuff and came across this CT4770. Anyone tried this card? I'm guessing you just use a standard 40 pin ribbon cable to the Live card. I wonder if the midi out would work in DOS?

So I have a system with a CT4620 installed along with the CT4660 breakout... All good and working. But somewhere I have a Live! Drive 2 lying in the dust... can I connect it to the soundcard and then connecting the CT4660 to the Live! Drive (CT4860A)?

Thanks

Great! Thank you for your feedback! In the meantime I happened to clean all the cards from the dust and check them for shorts. All looks good now, I even retrobrighted the plastics on one of them, because it was really too yellow 😀 But I am missing a volume knob. I think on the Live! Drive 2.

If you already have one knob, you can make a mold of it, out of silicone (be sure to grease the entire piece first, so it won't stick), and pour a new one out of epoxy.
You can even mix some paint into the epoxy to colormatch it.

Great tip, will try to do it, I think I have some of the stuff still at home... I just think that the knobs are made from some stiff rubber material, not really epoxy.
