DOSBox PPC problems with AD&D rpg's

I know this isn't an officially supported version, but I'm completely lost and maybe someone has found a simple workaround (I guess there are some ppc users out there).

I've got the following problem:
I'm running n0p's DOSBox port (based on v0.63) and it randomly (and quite often) crashes AD&D rpg's when reading/writing to disk. I've experienced this with Pools of Darkness, Secret of the Silver Blades and Death Knights of Krynn so far. The crash occurs either when loading the fight screen or when saving the game. It just exits from DOSBox back to the today screen. The taskbar is gone, and I have to start DOSBox again and exit it manually to bring the taskbar back 😖

I've tried it on both a WM2003SE (XDA III) and a WM5 pocket pc (MDA Vario II).

try the 0.63 version of dosbox and see if it happends there as well.
if it does, then it is a 63 specific problem and else it's caused by the porting.

Works flawlessly in v0.63 on my desktop PC, must be a problem with the port itself. Unfortunately, n0p's site is down (for months now), seems he has abandoned it.

I've tried all different core settings, sound on/off, different sound card types, frameskip, priority settings (low, normal, higher) etc.

It's obviously a problem with disk access, but not with the SD card - it also occurs when I install everything in my ppc's built-in memory/storage/drive (whatever it is). And it only happens with AD&D rpg's 😕.

Anyone else has an idea? I found another DOSBox version (pDOSBox), but it's an expired beta version that won't even start at all.
