I've had a bunch of parts sitting around not being used and have decided to build an "overkill" Pentium 4 machine running Windows XP.
Specs:
Intel Pentium 4 661 (3.60GHZ, LGA775)
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R Rev 2.0
4GB DDR2-800 RAM
120GB Kingston SSD
Geforce GTX770 2GB
There is also a 3.80GHZ 775 P4 available from Chinese sellers on ebay but the prices are silly.
For fun I'm going to run benchmarks to compare the performance with the GTX770 to a 750TI and a 710 (all 2GB versions).
Why am I doing this? No idea, I just have a weird nostalgia for the P4 era and was very annoyed with my RD-RAM P4 build not being able to have 2GB of 1066 RD-RAM, so I'm taking things up a level with a 775 CPU and DDR2 memory.
EDIT - benchmark results
GT710 (64bit mem bandwidth version)
