This has been quite the journey for a few years. I am always having sound card issues recently I decided to do a randomizer game pick. Kyrandia book one was picked I installed it, and crashes when speech starts. I found if I left the digitized sound to no sound card I can play the game but I want to hear the voice acting. So I scoured the forums and didn't find much for a resolution other than try wdm drivers. So I gave it a try and no fix but I thought I haven't ever tired these drivers on my machine and found that the uart output on the sound blaster actually works now without issue with my sound canvas. So next I thought maybe this has fixed the midi duke 3d issues I am having. I could never get the midi to work I would always get an mpu401 not detected error ever time I tried to run any build engine game. Well now it works also the pci echo crash bug is not a problem anymore . But I have found when testing sound in the duke3d setup stereo does not work. When the pool balls are played the center channel works but then when the left and right channels are played the sound is slightly quieter but played on both channels. I tried a few different revisions of the wdm drivers and they all do the same. Then I tried the vxd driver I had before to verify I wasn't crazy and indeed the stereo works. Has anyone come across the wdm driver breaking stereo in duke 3d. Is there a work around?
