Hey everyone,

I'm struggling with a scaling problem on my old PC running Windows XP with an Nvidia 9600 GT graphics card. I've tried different driver versions like 175.19, 275.33, and 327.23, but I can't seem to find the scaling option for my LCD monitor.

I'm using a VGA connection through a DVI adapter, and no matter what driver I install, the scaling option just won't show up.

Any ideas on how to get scaling working on Windows XP with this graphics card?

Are you referring to the DPI scale? That would be in the Advanced dialog in the Settings tab of the Display properties.

Modern : MSI PRO B650M-P Ryzen 5 7600, 32GB DDR5-5600, RX 7600
PIII : ASUS CUSL2-C, Pentium III @ 733MHz (Coppermine), Voodoo3 3000 AGP, 384 MB SDR, Audigy 2 ZS,
C2D : ASUS P5Q, Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3GHz (Wolfdale), Radeon HD 5750, 4GB DDR2-1066, 256GB SSD

No, Aspect Ratio adjustment, no matter the version I use no option shows up in the control panel

I don't think these scaling options are available over a VGA connection. The only time I've seen the scaling subscreen appear in Nvidia drivers newer than 8x.xx was when using a DVI to DVI connection with an old, mid-2000s LCD monitor which wasn't HDMI compliant

In some cases, it may be possible to apply scaling when using with a DVI to HDMI adapter by entering custom commands, as described here. I found that method to be somewhat unreliable though, as the settings do not always persist after a reboot and/or after a resolution change.

Well crap, the monitor I have is only vga, are there any alternative to this? using an external program for example

Not sure.

The crappiness of Nvidia drivers is what ultimately led me to get a monitor which can handle this in its own firmware. I found that most widescreen LCD monitors allow for aspect ratio adjustments over VGA, but not many can do it when using a digital connection like HDMI or Display Port.
