Has anyone here been able to install a proper driver for those modern PCI ATI Rage XL under Windows 95? By proper, I mean: all resolutions available at desktop, has working D3D, working OpenGL and no VXD driver error message... And I am not even talking about CIF!!

I have a P233 MMX with Windows 95B installed, and I am having a very hard time getting a driver to work without too much error. ANY official ATI drivers are giving me problems; display works at desktop, but launching a game (even DOS) freezes Windows and gives me a black screen.

The only tip that got me further came from this thread: Chinese Rage XL PCI mods, improved compatibility and looking for a good overclock.

RLTMGDbeta7.zip (this WinMe beta driver) also works for 4752, I installed this driver with PREINSTALL.BAT.

RageLTMan's Beta 7 driver was working with D3D and OpenGL games, but crashing when returning to desktop. So I used RageLTMan's later driver, the UDV2 version. This version still has a problem where I get a Windows blue screen error message saying something like "Invalid VxD link call from ATU_VXAE(01)..." whenever I launch a game. When I press Y, the launches and works fine! That is just a small annoyance compared to the fact that every time I shutdown windows and the display driver was loaded, I get stuck at "Please Wait While your Computer Shuts Down". That is very annoying.

Could this error mean it's only a Win98 driver? Should I be looking somewhere else for a working driver?

SIDE QUEST : has anyone been able to find the very last drivers from RageLTMan: FDv3.zip?? I spent an hour looking in FTPs and Wayback Machine and could not find them...

I decided to give this card another try in Windows 95... I tried various 1995-1998 ATI drivers where I added an entry for the 4257 in the INF file. It does let me install the driver set, but I get an incompatible error upon reboot...

Anyway, I lost any remaining hope I had for this card to replace my Rage II+DVD and purchased an overpriced Mystique 220... The upside is that it gets me closer to the build I had back then! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I can say for sure, that you need to use DX6 driver earliest for Rage XL PCI 4752 cards and there is no fully working 3dcif driver for 4752 yet, still there are many drivers versions that we do not have available now. One of the drivers that i like to get is 5.39 driver for Win9x and Rage cards. Up to 1998 drivers are DX5 drivers i think, any of them dont work for 4752. From M series drivers try 4.11.2055 version and add 4752 inf, this should support 4752 already. You can up/downgrade driver, but you have to use 4.11.2055 drv or other greater 4.11.20xx drv with other M series Directx6/6.1 driver.

4.11.2055 driver / Win95 is supported / use Directx 6 or 6.1 or greater. (add 4752 inf)

I have FDv3.1.zip and FDv3.1rc2.zip if you want FDv3.1?

Driver that i want, anybody has 5.39 driver? Non downloadable links for one 5.39 drv.
