Hi, I don't know but isn't NUSB project using some Windows Me system files?
Maybe thats why there's some trouble, not sure.
I've found a thread in another forum about this:
https://msfn.org/board/topic/171413-windows-me-usb-20/
It's about stripping the Me files from unofficial 98 SP3.
Unfortunately, the link for the download nolonger works.
A workaround would be to simply install Windows 98SE with NUSB first (and or any SP), then do the Me installation.
Newer system files shouldn't be overwritten, normally.
That's all I can say so far, sadly.
Windows Me was sold as an update/upgrade mainly, so the Windows Setup shouldn't complaint.
But of course, I'd favor a clean installation whenever possible instead.
(No Windows 98 installation on HDD; running Windows Me Setup from DOS and then insert Windows 98SE disc for license reasons when being asked)
