NUSB36 installs the proper USB 2.0 drivers in 98SE for a QM57 motherboard I'm working with but I can't use the NUSB36 installer with Windows ME. Is there anyway I can just copy the drivers over from a working 98SE install to Windows ME?

Hi, I don't know but isn't NUSB project using some Windows Me system files?
Maybe thats why there's some trouble, not sure.

I've found a thread in another forum about this:
https://msfn.org/board/topic/171413-windows-me-usb-20/

It's about stripping the Me files from unofficial 98 SP3.
Unfortunately, the link for the download nolonger works.

A workaround would be to simply install Windows 98SE with NUSB first (and or any SP), then do the Me installation.
Newer system files shouldn't be overwritten, normally.

That's all I can say so far, sadly.
Windows Me was sold as an update/upgrade mainly, so the Windows Setup shouldn't complaint.

But of course, I'd favor a clean installation whenever possible instead.
(No Windows 98 installation on HDD; running Windows Me Setup from DOS and then insert Windows 98SE disc for license reasons when being asked)

Perhaps it is possible to locate the relevant USB 2.0 drivers within the NUSB36 package, and install them manually on WinMe?

No need to use NUSB in Windows ME as it comes with mass storage drivers by default. These as similar as Windows 2000 ones.

I was thinking the same... unless there is some complication specific to OP's motherboard?

OP is asking for USB 2.0 drivers and not USB mass storage drivers. WinME has the latter by default, but not the former.

On that note, you can extract the contents of the NUSB executable to a folder by using 7-Zip or similar programs. After that, manually update the USB 2.0 drivers from Device Manager and point to that folder when prompted.

Very good point on that

What I normally do it's installing motherboard/pci card specific drivers, and it's usually enough for the native mass storage driver to detect the drive. Good to know that there is an alternative to this.

That's exactly what I did last night using 7-zip and it worked great. The system was still unstable though, and I'm just done with this unsupported hardware schtick for a while.
