Is anyone familiar with this Evesham PC? I just bought it for a higher spec Windows 98 SE build but I'm unsure what motherboard it has in it?

Just curious if anyone knew off hand what board these had?

Thanks 😁

No idea, but case looks to be the typical early 2000's "silver XP" era stuff. So probably either a Pentium 4 (Northwood or Prescott) or Athlon XP (t-bred or Barton core) would be inside is my guess.

Looks like a decent build, though. I see an extra sound card and video card doesn't seem too shabby either, as it has both VGA and DVI connectors (chances are, it might be a decent gaming card from that era.) The PSU also looks like it might be a Sparkle / Fortron / FSP unit, going by that specific fan cutout on the back. If so, consider it a keeper... though it will likely need a recap at this age, as Sparkle/Fortron/FSP usually used only mediocre (2nd tier) Taiwanese caps in their units (i.e. Teapo, CapXon, OST, and similar.) Otherwise, they are very solid units, especially for older builds that need a strong 5V rail.

Yes its the reason i bought it as it wasn't listed but in device manager you can see the graphics card is a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 😀 I believe the sound card is a SB Live! too so should be a nice machine.

The machine came and it's exactly as i thought!

It's a AMD Athlon XP 2400+ with a Gigabyte GA-7VKML motherboard. Geforce 4 Ti 4200 graphics card, Sound Blaster Live! SB0060 and 512MB RAM DDR

I want to switch my cases around for slightly more period correctness so off we go...

The hidden gem inside the PC i bought, a Gainward Geforce 4 Ti 4200 card! This card alone paid for the entire PC + shipping 😁

Sadly the motherboard is suffering from the capacitor plaque from around that time, luckyily none have leaked yet but i will have to swap these out at some point.

Thats the Windows 98 PC done the case is definetly more XP era but i love Windows 9x gaming but love the PC looks from XP era so its a little mash up of my favourites.

I have some blue new old stock CCFL neons for inside the case once i've moved and have a proper desk to put it all on.

Both machines are getting CF cards for storage, 8GB for Windows 95/DOS and 16GB for Windows 98 SE

All done, granted the second case is a XP era case as well but it does look kinda retro to me so will stick with it, why not.
