Hi

I can't find drivers for it, everything I found is for windows 95 and upper.

I found a thread here where a guy recommended a third party driver, but the OP said that it doesn't worked ( Sound Blaster PCI CT4810 & Windows 3.11 )

Any idea?

Thanks

I think that the other poster made the assumption that the Creative Sound Blaster PCI 128 (Model CT4810) is a re-brand Ensoniq Audio PCI (it's an Ensoniq ES1373, btw).

That's why the Ensoniq driver was being mentioned, I think.

However, it might be that merely the original ES1370 is compatible with these Ensoniq DOS drivers.

Speaking under correction.

Here's a review: Review: Sound Blaster PCI 128 (CT4810)

I don't know for sure, I'm sorry. 🙁
Maybe trying to get it working in DOS, then select the supplied Sound Blaster drivers ?
Windows 3.1 has driver for SB 1.0, SB 1.5 and Thunderboard (SB compatible).

I would suggest this also, but with the caveat of maybe needing to stay in standard mode, so dos interrupts handle everything / still fire.

Hi guys can you give me a step by step guide for making this sound card work in dos ans later make it work in 3.11?

Win 3.11 does NOT have a standard mode, IIRC.

Win 3.1 DOES.

Basically, you get it working with the dos realmode drivers (such as for dos games), then start win 3.1 with the /s switch, to make it run in standard mode.

In standard mode, it does not go into protected mode, and all services are handled by dos interrupt handlers. This includes the dos TSR driver that the soundblaster 128 uses to simulate being an SB16.
IIRC the SB16 does not do SBPRO mode properly, so use just the ordinary soundblaster 2.0 driver instead.

I dont know for certain that it would work, but it has a shot to.

There are other caveats to using standard mode:

Virtual memory is not a thing.
Dos applications wont run in windows. They can only be run full screen.
Multitasking is vastly more limited.

True, Windows f. Workgroups 3.11 -commonly called Windows 3.11- doesn't have Standard Mode anymore.

However, there's technically speaking also normal Windows 3.11, which was a bugfix release for Windows 3.1 that was being put into Windows 3.1 boxes as a substitute.

It's usually not being thought of, though. The splash screen continued to say "Windows 3.1".
Anyway, it just came to mind. I'm just stating the obvious again, probably.

If I understand it correctly standard mode is a limited mode that is not compatible with windows 3.11, and I must be forced to downgrade to 3.1 to try this.
I discard that possibility then.

Is not possible to make this soundcard work with 3.11 then?

Which affordable and cheap decent PCI soundcards work with it?

ALS4000 perhaps?

so it's impossible to make sb128 work on 3.11?
