well that is a good point. I was thinking the slotkets III are the best for it..
Because Abit also sold dual boards with this adapter. And mine are both rev 1.1

Are you sure that Abit sold dual slot 1 boards ?
Another issue is that there were Coppermine-ready slotkets of various brands that were SMP capable but only in combination with Celeron cpu's. The Abit revision 1.1 is not the latest, so....?

Some of the slotkets , made in the late-1990s, were designed to force Celerons to run in dual mode. Perhaps, they are not compatible with normal PIIs and PIIIs?

I seen one on ebay some sold some weeks ago..
I can confirm that my adapter runs with a tualatin celeron 1,4 with the mod board, maybe than also dual mode?

1.06 is able to take even Tualatin, had a 1,4GHz one working on both. With adapter board..

Jumper settings on the slotket3 1,75V with 100Mhz FSB. Sl5QV

OK, have my board & SlotKET III adapters set up for comparison and have to say I'm not seeing any of your reported issues.

Went as follows...

...cleared CMOS
...updated BIOS to 1014.003 from 1013, then loaded setup defaults
...set time/date and device boot order - all other settings were left unchanged
...swapped in SlotKET III adapters having set FSB & voltage as yours
...both processors still recognised on boot screen
...clean CD install of XP Pro SP3 to a blank 40GB hdd (256MB ram installed)
...system defaults to 'ACPI Multiprocessor' and both processors recognised in Device Manager
...system can power down without issue
...makes no difference to operation if I enable MPS 1.4

So in summary, I'm not seeing any overheat, processor enumeration or ACPI issues. Boot times don't seem that bad for a dual cpu spinning rust install.

I'll leave my setup as is for now should you need any further comparisons.

what rev are your slotkets?
For now i switched back to 2x 750 slot1 and anything working fine.
Overheat was a problem of my coolers.

the P2B-D latest rev is 1.06 (mine is 1.06)far as i know. Thanks for the link. I tryed install with F5 and set to MPS before .
I think my board has another problem with the slots. I will got a DS with two 750er installed and working in the next days where i can crosstest.

If I'm not mistaken, it's the P2B-DS with on board SCSI that only goes up to revision 1.06. The non-S IIRC had some more revisions. However it seems you're right that the 1.06 of either boards shouldn't be needing it. But did you check the position of that resistor, just to be 100% certain? 😀

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

My bad, it was the non-D version of the P2B, ie the single cpu version that came in higher revisions. Never mind 🤣

Both mine (bought 20+ years apart!) are v1.1 (pcb v0.83)...

The attachment ABit SlotKET III.jpg is no longer available

...and the ACPI resistor mod mentioned earlier by @chinny22 came factory fitted on my P2B-DS 1.06 / D02
