There is a 3d print file in this thread for the io sheild. I had to modify it slightly. But it works well

You'll have to buy all the components separately, including some that aren't made anymore (such as the crystal audio chip. They're easy to find on eBay tho)

So the PCBWay assembly doesn't include those? What if I ship it to them?

you certainly can and that would be the best
Anyone who wanna join me for a group buy through PCBway?

I’m potentially interested depending on what the price comes to.

I think that depends on the number of group members 😀
I am not an expert and never ordered anything from PCBWay but I am willing to take on this challenge! 😀
Just created a Discord server for this, we can use it to organize the group-buy, and if Eivind is okay with it we can use it as a general chat/discussion and community support server for his creations! 😀
Feel free to join it: https://discord.gg/YN3XkycAXG

I'm okay with whatever - the board design is open source and free, I have no saying! 😁 I'll pop in and say hi on the Discord!
I haven't been paying close attention to the chat about building/buying, but if you guys are talking about having the PCB manufacturer do the assembly (or parts of it), I'll strongly recommend JLC instead of PCBWay - it's going to be way cheaper. For a bare board and manual assembly, PCBWay is fine! 👍

That's exactly the build I'm going for. What PSU did you choose may I ask?
I found this Flex PSU that has a Noctua fan upgrade option, maybe that's one of the quieter ones?

Yesss, I'm more interested.
There's a group buy channel on the Discord
Hello, for those who are not in the discord server but are willing to join the group-buy:
This form is to gauge interest to figure out how many would like to order so we can try to get a quote for that. Filling out this form is not a commitment to buy: https://forms.gle/43Zd2mEeh94mv4Wx5
Thanks! 😀

May I suggest JLCPCB instead of PCBway? I don't have a problem with PCBway by any means, but JLC has been cheaper for all the projects I've done with them and the quality is more than satisfactory.

The current plan in the Discord is to use JLC.

well then, I must be late to the party!
I didn't even know I wanted this until I saw JM's YT video. In for the group buy.
Joined the discord and filled out the form expressing interest in one board/one OPL3!
Not sure if anyone has tried or want to try, but i did want to have cd audio working due to some old games has cd audio, after few test i only found one way that worked best.
Best way is to use pata/ide cdrom ( slim or normal size ) whit ide to sata adapter, i been using slim as i want to modify my itx case to fit the cdrom in it.
I have tested with ide to usb adapter but couldn't really get it to work "great", so i had only sata port left as i can use disk as sd, the sound just keep studder a lot with the usb adapter, it could also be the startech.com adapter but i really doubt that.
I dont really know any other way to be able to use cd audio if there isnt any one els that have gone another way.
naa, nothing yet...

It's just because of the driver. If you dig around, you might find the right driver, however, the current approach you mentioned (ATA to SATA and using the SATA connector) is the best as it does not need any special driver and works flawlessly.
With regards to limitation of the number of SATA ports, there is a product on Amazon (https://a.co/d/fkJLahR) that I am not sure if it actually works (especially on the Vortex86 with the SeaBIOS and all the changes @Eivind has done to it). I might grab one and give it a test to let everyone know.
