Hi, if you can, make sure it has Flash Floppy firmware or HxC firmware.
Both allow using floppy images (.img, .ima). The original Gotek firmware is horrible IMHO.
Edit: If it has Flash Floppy firmware, you need to use disk images. WinImage can make them, for example.
A pair of config file on the USB pen drive is needed, too.

Depends on the Gotek model. Full information and instructions on the FlashFloppy site https://github.com/keirf/flashfloppy
I/O, I/O,
It's off to disk I go,
With a bit and a byte
And a read and a write,
I/O, I/O
If your just using the default Gotek firmware, you'll need to prepare the USB first.
Phil's got a link and a video on it.
