Hi all,
My current socket 7 setup is built around a Shuttle HOT-569 mobo and a Pentium MMX 200 overclocked at 225 (3 x 75).
That motherboard accepts AMD K6-2 and the FSB can be configured up to 83 Mhz.
I am considering swapping my Pentium MMX for a K6-2. Why? Just because I can...
Now I am confused with regards to which CPU to get because on this page (https://www.pchardwarelinks.com/569_spec.htm) it says : "K6-2 processors faster than 333MHz may draw too much amperage through the motherboard to be considered reliable".
Should I stick to a K6-2 333 @ 66 x 5? Do you think my board would accept a K6-2 450 underclocked at 4.5 x 75 = 337 MHz?
On the other hand I have found evidences of people running K6-2 at 400+ MHz on the very same mainboard (see https://groups.google.com/g/alt.comp.periphs. … Uwn-N7WM4?pli=1) so really not sure what to believe...
Any advice?
/me love my P200MMX@225 Mhz + Voodoo Banshee + SB32 PnP + Sound Canvas SC-55ST = unlimited joy !
