Hi

So, I installed my original 4-CD version of Tex Murphy: Overseer the other day, and I'm trying to find out a bit more about the DVD version. I understand that was released in the States only...? I don't think it came out in the UK. The versions sold on Steam and GOG are the DVD versions, which I know have cleaner and higher res FMV videos. No scanlines. I presume they include some pre-installed patches/fixes as well? I would like to get those higher res videos working with my installed version, along with any patches/fixes, if that's possible? Or is there a way of converting the original CD versions to match the DVD version? I know there's a guide for converting the CD version to a DVD disc, but that doesn't guide you on how to install it so it plays from the HDD. Plus, my Win98 PC doesn't have a DVD drive. Yet.

Thanks

Overseer came out simultaneously on CD and DVD, the original release included them both. You may want to check this thread out:

Huh. I had no idea they came out at the same time. Or that both versions were included. I could be wrong, but I think the only release to come out in the UK was the regular CD version part of the Premiere Collection.

Okay, I have everything you suggested except for DVDExpress. That one seems a bit elusive now.

Is Mediamatics DVDExpress definitely needed? Or is there an alternative? Any links I've come across for it appear to be dead.

Any suggestions regarding this? I've still been unable to find DVDExpress; only an update. So unless there's an alternative that works...?

Now that I’ve managed to get/find the tools needed, and reinstalled Overseer again with the update (1.04), does using those tools actually help with converting the FMVs to MPEG/DVD quality, or are they purely for converting the CD versions to a DVD to avoid disc swapping?
The latter I’m not too fussed about (yet). What I am unsure about is the process of getting the higher quality videos.

So, I installed my original 4-CD version of Tex Murphy:

Interesting. My version is 5 CDs. I am from UK too.

Oh, I think it is 5 CDs actually. My mistake.
