Some Intel´s original coolers for socket 478 Pentium 4´s have a very decent heatsink with a copper core but since they´re getting quite old, the fans tend to be worn out and loud. I could just lubricate the bearings of fresh oil but where´s the fun in that? And since third-party coolers are getting a bit challenging to find, I thought an alternative solutions couldn´t hurt.
So I learned some extremely basic 3D modeling and I came up with this adapter…
I measured a few key dimensions from the original Intel fans to create this adapter to ensure a firm fit under the retention bracket and this model should be compatible with different cooler variants.
If you´re going print this model, use material that has high heat-resistance since it will be pressed against the heatsink.
