The flesh is weak. Perhaps you should give in to the temptation 😁

well my flesh has been weak: I have found a Diamond Monster 3D Rev. F for 35 € including shipping and I couldn't say no xD piece of history that my collection misses, even though I have no real use for it^^

Congrats, I've been looking for one of those for a reasonable price for ages 😁 for a P2 build.

Thanks. I don't know if it works. It looked okay though.

Too lazy for a signature. Imagine one 😉

I'm not sure those cards can be killed unless they are physically destroyed. Tough little bastards. Let's hope you find a build for it someday.

I'd sell it to you if it works to get it to good use, but shipping will be way too expensive to Armenia...

As for shipping, there's a service here I use to get stuff off eBay, called Globbing, so eBay only has to ship it to New Castle, Delaware, and Globbing takes over from there to my doorstep, for about $8 a pound 😀) takes about two weeks or so in the best case, and shipping heavier stuff like PC cases and such is out of question, but I'm still able to snatch the odd card off eBay 😀) cheers.

Hey, after a long abstinence here are some pictures of all of my working retro rigs 😀 they are all covered in stickers (don't judge) and their network names are all from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels.

No. 1: "DOS/Early 3D" with Windows 95 OSR2.1 - it's supposed to cover 1990 to 1997/8 ish. Thats inside:
- AMD K6 266 (the B-Version with lower Voltage requirement), can be downgraded to a Pentium MMX 166
- Gigabyte GA-586TX3 (Intel i430TX): the most reliable and hassle-free Socket 7-Mainboard I have ever had the joy to work with
- 64 MB EDO-RAM (60ns)
- ELSA Winner2000AVI-3D (S3-VirGE VX) 4 MB RAM (great compatibility)
- Guillemot MaxiGamer 3D II 8 MB (3Dfx SST2) for 3D-acceleration
- ESS AudioDrive 1869F with a Serdaco X2GS / I have a few other options (Audician 32, AD1816-S) but I love these ESS ISA cards
- an OPTI USB 1.1 Card
- a HDD Bay with a CF Card Adapter, a 40x CD-ROM made by LiteOn and a 3,2 GB Seagate Medalist for Storage
- 200 Watt Astec ATX PSU with AT-Adapter
- 3com 100 Mbit NIC
Net-Name: DORFL

No. 2 "Millennium" with Windows 98 SE - it's for everything from 1998 to 2001; I have found this Siemens Xpert 8600 in an attic above a garage, where it had spent 18 years when I've found it. It still works perfectly, but has seen a few major upgrades
- Intel Pentium III 700 Coppermine Slot 1 (FSB 100) / Originally had: Pentium III 500 (Katmai)
- Aopen AX6BC-EZ (Intel i440ZX): a reliable motherboard with no nonsense, but an awkward layout
- 192 MB SD-RAM PC100 / Originally had:64 MB
- Guillemot Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 64 MB (Kyro 2) / Originally had: ATI Xpert 128 (Rage128GL)
- Creative SB Live! 5.1 SB100 / Originally had: Terratec Promedia PCI128 (ESS Solo1-S)
- Promise Ultra100 TX2
- CF Card adapter at the back, 48x CD-ROM made by LiteOn, 20 GB Seagate U10, 15 GB IBM DeathStar DTLA-307015 (works perfectly, firmware is updated, LOVE that thing)
- 300 Watt Delta PSU (that's from the time my former Voodoo 5 5500 refused to work with any other (otherwise perfectly functional) PSU; originally with a 110 Watt Astec PSU, that I've found a 1:1 replacement for in the street)
- 3com 100 Mbit NIC
Net-Name: COHEN

No. 3 "early XP" with Windows XP Professional - it's what I would have liked, when I first got into PC-building
- AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (T-Bred)
- ECS K7S5A Pro 5.0 (really underrated board, and it's purple)
- 1 GB DDR-400 RAM
- MSI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB
- Creative SB Audigy 2 (non ZS)
- 3com 100 Mbit NIC
- DVD-RW and DVD-ROM by LG, 80 and 200 GB WD Caviar SE HardDrives (found in the street, work perfectly)
- 400 Watt Listan Be Quiet! BQT-P4-400S PSU (found it in the street, works perfectly)
- Case: Chieftec Dragon CS601 in dark grey with RGB (one red, one green one blue LED fan 😜)
Net-Name: DRUMKNOTT

No. 4 "late XP, Dualcore" with Windows XP Professional - it's the first PC I have restored from a used PC I got from a neighbor at the time; my first own PC
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (originally with a A 64 3000+ and a boxed cooler, still have it)
- Asus A8N-SLI (originally with an Asus A8V-E SE that died of the cap plague)
- 2 GB Corsair XMS DDR-400 RAM (originally with 2x 512 Kingston KVR Value DDR400)
- Asus Geforce 9600 GT 512 MB PCI-E (my only NV-Card in active use; originally had a Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO, that I still have)
- Creative SB X-Fi XtremeMusic
- Digitus Wifi-Card
- Enermax EG365-AX 24Pin (my Original from 2006!)
- No Name black and silver Midi Tower (my Original from 2006!)
Net-Name: RINCEWIND

the other ones are a little too modern for this forum and this post is long enough 😀

That's good to know. Could maybe use that to snatch up some card or low profile Slotket from Murican Ebay^^

An Intel Core 2? Hans, get ze flammenwerfer! 😁
but seriously: nice collection there

maybe I'll post my xeon rig when I'm not sick in bed... lazyness also a big factor - not gonna lie^^

Lian Li cases are really something else. My xeon is the only one I have because it wasn't too expensive - only 20 bucks pick up... normally even the older ones go for triple that or more and I'm not gonna pay that...

I have one of those purple ECS Socket A boards, ECS KT600-A in my case. Has a bulging cap, but otherwise completely functional. Mine is AGP, so it would be a nice pair with a purple PNY Verto 4200Ti, if I ever track one:

I had one these back in the day. Bought it on the way to a lan party! Great cards.

I picked up a couple more Lian Li cases recently and one of them specifically because it included a genuine original side panel with window. Well it turned out to also have a fully functioning system in it with some useful other parts, but also... a working cold cathode! I used to have them in my PC-70 back in the day and remember them being so incredibly fragile, and I've not seen them for sale anywhere recently. So I've just moved the cathode and the panel onto one of my existing builds to give it a bit more of the early 2000s 'sex spec' vibe. I had a blue LED strip in there before which was fine, but there's just something about the light from a cold cathode, it's softer, less garish, and it just looks so right. Period correct 😁

This build is virtually exactly what I was running for a while back in the day - ABIT KR7A-RAID, Athlon XP 1700+, Gainward GeForce 3, 80GB Maxtors in RAID0. I love revisiting my old systems like this, very sentimental.

Awesome.

Did you aquire on eBay by any chance?

Pop up from time to time and i either miss them or they are collection only.

Nice Lian Li by the way 😀

Got a few myself and it pains to say i have sold for silly money and even taken some to the scrap merchants many silly years ago. Bad times...

Bondwell B310. Paid $30 at a thrift store for it, replaced every single capacitor on this thing, and it boots without issues.

The display contrast slider needs repairs since it acts a bit goofy at times.

Reading about your laptop. It's "ONLY" 7.6 pounds! Also learned it has the beloved Cherry key switches and an RGBi output. Would be fun hooking it up to a colour monitor.

My plan is to build a cable to connect the system to my 13" Sharp TV set that I'll be adding RGB to in the future (I replaced several caps in the set and it works) with both RCA for RGB and a 9-pin cable with both H and V sync tied to C-sync.

Man, it was a nightmare to take this thing apart and put it back together. The case is so small and cramped it’s hard to do anything. And the ISA/PCI cards can’t be screwed in, instead there’s these weird metal foldable protrusions that don’t work very well. I have a love/hate relationship with this PC now.

But it runs. Well, except for the mouse, it does nothing. No idea why. I think maybe I plugged in the serial header the wrong way. I hope. Otherwise no idea.

It's kinda dumb, but it's a button that puts the PC in sleep mode. At least, I think that's what it's supposed to do. Can't find much info about it, so I hooked it up to the suspend mode header.
