Hey, after a long abstinence here are some pictures of all of my working retro rigs 😀 they are all covered in stickers (don't judge) and their network names are all from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels.
No. 1: "DOS/Early 3D" with Windows 95 OSR2.1 - it's supposed to cover 1990 to 1997/8 ish. Thats inside:
- AMD K6 266 (the B-Version with lower Voltage requirement), can be downgraded to a Pentium MMX 166
- Gigabyte GA-586TX3 (Intel i430TX): the most reliable and hassle-free Socket 7-Mainboard I have ever had the joy to work with
- 64 MB EDO-RAM (60ns)
- ELSA Winner2000AVI-3D (S3-VirGE VX) 4 MB RAM (great compatibility)
- Guillemot MaxiGamer 3D II 8 MB (3Dfx SST2) for 3D-acceleration
- ESS AudioDrive 1869F with a Serdaco X2GS / I have a few other options (Audician 32, AD1816-S) but I love these ESS ISA cards
- an OPTI USB 1.1 Card
- a HDD Bay with a CF Card Adapter, a 40x CD-ROM made by LiteOn and a 3,2 GB Seagate Medalist for Storage
- 200 Watt Astec ATX PSU with AT-Adapter
- 3com 100 Mbit NIC

No. 2 "Millennium" with Windows 98 SE - it's for everything from 1998 to 2001; I have found this Siemens Xpert 8600 in an attic above a garage, where it had spent 18 years when I've found it. It still works perfectly, but has seen a few major upgrades
- Intel Pentium III 700 Coppermine Slot 1 (FSB 100) / Originally had: Pentium III 500 (Katmai)
- Aopen AX6BC-EZ (Intel i440ZX): a reliable motherboard with no nonsense, but an awkward layout
- 192 MB SD-RAM PC100 / Originally had:64 MB
- Guillemot Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 64 MB (Kyro 2) / Originally had: ATI Xpert 128 (Rage128GL)
- Creative SB Live! 5.1 SB100 / Originally had: Terratec Promedia PCI128 (ESS Solo1-S)
- Promise Ultra100 TX2
- CF Card adapter at the back, 48x CD-ROM made by LiteOn, 20 GB Seagate U10, 15 GB IBM DeathStar DTLA-307015 (works perfectly, firmware is updated, LOVE that thing)
- 300 Watt Delta PSU (that's from the time my former Voodoo 5 5500 refused to work with any other (otherwise perfectly functional) PSU; originally with a 110 Watt Astec PSU, that I've found a 1:1 replacement for in the street)
- 3com 100 Mbit NIC

- AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (T-Bred)
- ECS K7S5A Pro 5.0 (really underrated board, and it's purple)
- 1 GB DDR-400 RAM
- MSI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB
- Creative SB Audigy 2 (non ZS)
- 3com 100 Mbit NIC
- DVD-RW and DVD-ROM by LG, 80 and 200 GB WD Caviar SE HardDrives (found in the street, work perfectly)
- 400 Watt Listan Be Quiet! BQT-P4-400S PSU (found it in the street, works perfectly)
- Case: Chieftec Dragon CS601 in dark grey with RGB (one red, one green one blue LED fan 😜)

No. 4 "late XP, Dualcore" with Windows XP Professional - it's the first PC I have restored from a used PC I got from a neighbor at the time; my first own PC
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ (originally with a A 64 3000+ and a boxed cooler, still have it)

- 2 GB Corsair XMS DDR-400 RAM (originally with 2x 512 Kingston KVR Value DDR400)
- Asus Geforce 9600 GT 512 MB PCI-E (my only NV-Card in active use; originally had a Sapphire Radeon X800 GTO, that I still have)
- Creative SB X-Fi XtremeMusic
- Digitus Wifi-Card
- Enermax EG365-AX 24Pin (my Original from 2006!)
- No Name black and silver Midi Tower (my Original from 2006!)
