I have an old ASUS CUV4X-C (https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/asus-cuv4x-c) motherboard that I believe might have been damaged due to a power supply issue. It was part of a system where the power supply may have been set to the 220V setting instead of the correct 115V. It gives absolutely no signs of life when I am testing it; PSU won't even turn on!
Visually, the motherboard appears to be in great condition. None of the capacitors have leaked, and there are no obvious signs of damage or burn marks. However, some of the other components in the system are confirmed to be dead: a Sound Blaster PCI 128, an ATI PRO 128 graphics card, and a Creative CD-ROM 52x drive.
That said, some parts of the system are still working. The P3 CPU (866MHz) and the floppy disk drive seem to have survived without issues.
Before I try to troubleshoot or repair it, I wanted to reach out to the community for advice:
- What are the likely components on the motherboard that might have been damaged due to this mistake?
- Are there any repair options worth exploring, or should I consider the motherboard a goner?
