If I can suggest one mATX board, go with the MSI 815EM Pro v5.1.

-3x SDR
-Tualatin Support (I run a Tualeron on mine)
-onboard LAN + VGA (latter can be helpful in emergency cases)
-AGP 4x
-3x PCI

I have several Abit boards including ST6 and VH6T and in all Windows tests the Via is faster than Intel!
Please note that I tested only 2dmark 2000 & 2001, PCmark2002, Code creatures pro and AM3.
The builds are almost identical:
Pentium 3 1400S; 2*256mb RAM; geforce4 ti 4600; different HDD's and the aforementioned ST6 and VH6T; Windows ME installed with no 3 party updates - I know, I committed a cardinal sin!

Thats what I have Asus TUSL2
I also had another board I don’t remember the brand.
But, I would say get what ever you can find at a reasonable price.
