Hello everyone,

I have found my old Socket 370 motherboard QDI Advance 10f and I am trying to get it back to life. Unfortunately system doesh 't post and I used Post analyzer card. It seems that Reset is stuck and I don't have clock led on ISA slot!!!!
I have used oscillator and check CPU bus clock (66MHz with Celeron) and PCI clock (33 MHz) which is correct too. As far as ISA I have 14,3 MHz on High-speed Clock (70 ns, 14.31818 MHz, 50% duty cycle) but I can not count system clock on B20 pin. I think that I must have System Clock 8-8.33 MHz according to ISA datasheet. I have also have checked crystals and they seem to work fine.

So, does anyone know if system clock on ISA can prevent system from posting (Stay Reset stuck)???? And if so, What can I do to save this motherboard?????

Have you checked to make sure your bios battery isn't dead. I've had many boards play dead and not post or just act really weird with a low/dead/missing bios battery.

Yes, Bios battery has 3V. It is ok!

Are you using the CPU you had with the board or did you change it? Later Socket 370 Pentium 3s and celerons are "FC-PGA", and one of the differences is that FC-PGA CPUs have a reset pin where PPGA CPUs have a "reserved" pin, and without an interposer or electrical modifications, an FC-PGA CPU will not boot in a PPGA board.

On the other hand, the board might be toast.

If the reset is stuck, at least in my experience it meant the CPU I used was not compatible, even if the manual said it supports it.

For example, I have a jumper-free Tualatin board that does not work with any type of FC-PGA2 Celeron, or 100mhz bus FC-PGA P3 at all. The reset light will be stuck on the analyzer, and it will only work if I use a 133mhz bus FC-PGA or FC-PGA2 P3 cpu.

Looks like all but tualatin should work.

I'd give it a thorough wash and dry without battery.
Soap, water, toothbrush. About 4hrs in full sun or 4 days inside.

But yes, the bios is on the isa bus. No clock =no bios.

Even with a similar schematic it is better than no schematic at all.

Thank you for your responsies! Ihave check this motherboard with multiple CPU's (not tualatin) and without BIOS chip with no result. Reset stays stuck!!!!

So, the issue for the system clock is maybe on Southbridge? Because all other clocks seems to work fine...

The clock generator IC distributes the clock signal to all the components. I would look for any loose pins, unsoldered or broken series resistors.
And the most unpleasant thing is from the RESET and Power button via the "ASPI controller and power sequence monitor", which is assembled on anything. Starting from small BJT transistors and ending with 74 logic - сheck the signal transmission

No. I'm 99% sure from my memory of the bx pii4x and 686a/b equivalent that it was generated by the SB from pci/x.

Iirc the 686, which I believe was pin compatible, it had more dividers and possibly the option of an external crystal.

Look up via 686a datasheet.

Look for power to the SB. It's possible it's not getting enable.
