Just read this in the news (it's 3 days old):
https://www.theregister.com/2026/01/12/window … _portugal_rail/
Portugal? Isn't that in Spain? 🤔
The pictures are definitely in Portugal. TheRegister is not known for making mistakes and they got it right once again.
My bad, I have a poor sense of humour (sometimes)! 😅
I meant to imply that Portugal is a region within Spain, as a tiny joke or sideblow.
As if some says: Austria? Isn't that in(side) Germany? 😉
(Or: Belgium? Isn't that in France?)
Anyway, it just came to mind as a random idea.
It's probably a bit too silly to be instantly understood, I guess. 😅
The actual news itself is very positive, too, I think. Windows 2000 was a fine, reliable OS. 🙂
It's the older brother of both Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 (also fine).

Wasn't it just a year or two ago that the germany railway was looking for someone that knew how to use dos & windows 3.11
yep... https://www.theregister.com/2024/01/30/window … 11_trundles_on/
Yes! 😃
Windows 3.x was very popular in embedded once over here.
Siemens etc. used it in early 90s. We used to be very Microsoft obsessed, I guess (except for the Amiga users).
And the ICE (our TGV counterpart) was from the 80s, originally, so even older.

At least they didn't use Windows 95.
Um, that reminds me of this news.. 😳
