Hi there,

I can't make any progress getting this game running on my retro-pc. I don't know what causes the issue. I never came across such a weird glitch. The game though is very nice. Nicely drawn detaild pixel art. Sound, music and gameplay is quite good. The graphics stand out by fare. The game has two versions, one is for Win3x the other one is for Win9x. I tested both on the same machine with windows 3.11 and windows 95. The issue is exactly the same.

If I start the game the gfx get stuck after 1-2 seconds. If I move the window of the game, the game runs another 1-2 seconds in the animation and stucks again. On fullscreen it stucks after 1-2 seconds but because I cannot move the game-window it stays stucked. I have changed the graphics-drivers, the resolutions the bitdephs, the direct version (on Win9x). I have tried several versions, several cracked versions and even the full install version, I can't fix it.

I am pretty sure that the answer lies in wing.dll or wing32.dll or something related to that because changing the direct-version and even deinstalling it, did not make any difference. Is it due to my setup itself ? I used the gfx and directX-drivers from microsoft for the onboard ET4000w32p but even using the latest Tseng driver from 12/1995 does not fix the issue. This driver is even worse because it seems to break direct draw hardware acceleration in DX1/2.

Any idea what I should check next?

Thx Doc

Hi, ComixZone uses WinG? If yes, installing WinG SDK might help.
Back in time I had it succesfully installed on Windows 3.1x, 98SE and XP.

This is one of the games I bought original back in the day it released on PC after borrowing it on Sega Megadrive from my friends. The PC port was terrible compared to the original: lousy music, choppy performance, and desynchronised audio/visuals. I was running it on Win95 over a Pentium 90 machine with SB16.

I ended up returning the game to the shop because it was unplayable. The artwork wasn't even readapted for monitor (non-TV) displays, resulting in very sharp art and loss of transparency effects. Instead you see ugly stripe patterns everywhere (shadows and water).

But I don't think I got the issue you're facing. I was able to move forward in the game up to the sewers in the first level before I popped it out and couldn't take it anymore.

Its only good aspect was the audio CD for the soundtrack of the game...

Good luck identifying the issue.. but I think it maybe is something in your config...

Turbo XT 12MHz, 8-bit VGA, Dual 360K drives
Intel 386 DX-33, Speedstar 24X, SB 1.5, 1x CD
Intel 486 DX2-66, CL5428 VLB, SBPro 2, 2x CD
Intel Pentium 90, Matrox Millenium 2, SB16, 4x CD
HP Z400, Xeon 3.46GHz, YMF-744, Voodoo3, RTX2080Ti

I assume this too, but it's hard to find. It worked once, but after I reinstalled Win95a it never worked. I reinstalled again and still got the same issue.
I don't know what I did right the first time though. I will retest it with WingSDK installed.

That did not help either (WinG-SDK) I think I make a fresh install of Win95a.
