Hello. I can't manage to make this game work properly with 3D acceleration. I'm having two sorts of problems and I'd be grateful if anyone could offer some help.
1) I can install and run the game fine in Windows 95 using DosBox-X; it just refuses to use hardware acceleration, even though the "Direct 3D hardware acceleration enabled" box is ticked in dxsetup (just as stated in the manual). DosBox-X should be equipped for that, but the game seems unable to acknowledge the possibility of hardware acceleration.
2) I would like to try running the game with dgVoodoo2 under Windows without resorting to emulation. I can use a Windows 8 machine for that. The problem is, I can't install the game. It's not that the installer is 16-bit - it runs just fine. The problem is that it looks specifically for Windows 95 and, since it cannot detect it, the installation stops (see picture). But then the user sean_skroht reported that "it does indeed install fine in 64bit Windows" (I'm using the "Sold Out" re-release btw).
I can simply transfer the game installation folder from the virtual DosBox drive to my local hard disk using 7Zip, but then of course the game doesn't start since it hasn't been installed properly. Again, sean_skroht wrote about copying the registry entry but I'm not knowledgeable enough for that.
(BTW in this last case: without dgVoodoo2, when launching micro.exe the screen turns black, the title bar "Micro Machines V3" is visible, but then the game crashes with an error message.
When using dgVoodoo2 and launching the patched micro.exe, the screen turns black for a while without the title bar, then the dgVoodoo watermark appears briefly, but the game crashes right after with no error message.
Both intro.exe and intros.exe don't accomplish anything.)
