Pandora Directive error

I followed the instructions for getting Pandora Directive to run. I have all six CDs copied to my hard drive, and I mounted each folder as a separate drive. I set it up so that the game will look for each CD from the mounted drives, rather than checking my CD-ROM drive.

I'm running DosBox 0.72 on Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2. It is a laptop computer with 2 gigs of RAM. I don't recall how fast the processor is. If you need more information about the hardware, please ask.

Anyway, everything is running great at first, until I attempt to go into one location near the beginning of the game. I can move around Tex's apartment, talk to different people, etc. But when I go into the alley behind the Ritz, open the gate, and walk through, the game crashes. When the CPU core is set to auto, I get an error message that keeps repeating over and over "DYNX86:Can't run code in this page". If I switch CPU core to normal, I get this error message instead: "Illegal write to 6bd60314, CS:IP 180:14205350" and this message repeats multiple times, each time the final number increases by two in hexidecimal numbers, finally ending at 180:142055a4. Is there another setting that I can change that might correct this problem?

As a temporary work-around, I have discovered something interesting. It seems that if I change CD 2 to CD 3's drive, then enter the alley, and change it back, everything works fine. But, if I leave CD 2 on CD 3's directory, the program eventually crashes. I don't know why that fixes it, but it does. At least for now. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all for trying stuff.

Instead of copying the discs and mounting the folder, what happens when you use the original discs and mount them?

The only thing I can suggest is to make sure you have the proper volume label on the mounted drive. Access Software always used disc Volume Labels on their games, though usually you would just get a message that it couldn't find the disc instead of the errors you are getting if it was omitted. I think the labels were PANDORA1 through PANDORA6.

Yes, those are the folder names I was using. I'll play around with it and see what I can come up with.
