I recently got the nostalgia thing, and wanted to try wolf3d and spear of destiny with dosbox, and im noticing that both games play extremely slow under dosbox. I remember they didnt run as slow as this before, and both games are very "light" games for dosbox, theyre not build games. I've looked into the dosbox.conf file, but havent found anything that could be causing this slowdown. I tried raising the cycles, but a game like wolf3d shouldnt need any high cycles value, right? Can anyone please provide suggestions?

thanks!

Do you have any suggestions for values on the output and core sections of the conf file?

those suggestions are in the conf file itself once you generate it.

Auto cycles don't work for REAL mode games which Wolf3D and Spear are.

So which cycles should i put? I tried 15000+ cycles and the game was still running choppy.

Yes, but which ones should i put? Does it make a difference framerate-wise if i select overlay, direct3d, opengl, etc?

Thanks for your suggestions, i will try them out! One last thing, when i maximize the screen with alt-enter, it doesnt go full screen, the game only takes slightly more than half of the screen. Where do i specify resolution? And is that related to the values in scaler?

thanks!

If you think your posting had at least a touch of irony, you surely should
get somebody to explain to you what it really means...
