Hello everyone!
I hope this is the right forum for my problem.

So I want to play Tomb Raider I. Since I have Vista 64 bit edition, I have to use DOSBox. But I'm having problems to run the game in Glide mode 😖 If I run the game in fullscreen mode, I only get a black screen and I see nothing 🙁 But the game is working because I can hear the sounds and I can flip through the main menu. When I manage to exit the game, I also have in the normal DOSBox environment a black screen 🙁

So, if I play in windowed mode, I can see the game, but there is no Glide support! The game is rendered via software and that looks like crap 😢

I really wan to play this game, because it's so great! I have tried so many things already, but nothing works!

Please help me! Thank you!

Here some additional information:

My hardware configuration:

CPU: Intel Core i7 920
RAM: 6 GB DDR3
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4870 1 GB (official Catalyst 9.8 drivers)
Motherboard: Asus P6T
Soundcard: Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Titanium (PCIe)
OS: Windows Vista 64 bit SP2

try this preconfigured setup

using 0.72

Either glide runs or it doesn't. If you run tomb3dfx then glide is running. Did you really recompile dosbox with glide support or just copied the patches? Use my cvs to test glide...

Thank you so much! 😀 This setup works great!

However, Unfinished Business is not working 🙁 When I choose "New game" from the main menu, the game freezes. I still see the menu and the background music is playing. I tried to start the game about 10 times and surprisingly one time I was able to start the game.
So, what's the problem? I wanted to check the DOSBox log file but the log file is empty, DOSBox doesn't log anything. I have activated all logging options in the dosbox.conf file, so this is very strange!

Can you help me please? Thank you very much for your time!

So, what's the problem?

it just lies with TRUB itself
I've been having this kind of crash too, all the time
TR1 is also affected, but in a minimal percentage

if you want you can try the setup I'd made here
http://www.tombraiderhub.com/faq/tr1.html#advancedsol
goto dosbox part of course
(btw the dgvoodoo one you also see there, later wrapped up by me here
http://www.tombraiderforums.com/showthread.php?t=152468
for the sake of more windows-userfriendliness
unfortunately won't apply to x64)

well that alternative setup installs to a different folder and as such isn't incompatible with mintrasystem's thing,
but actually works along the same lines
read mintrasystem page for the details, but in short v1.2 of it builds on v1.0 plus my contribution so it's practically the same

in the end, funny as it is,
the only workaround to TRUB specific freeze issue...
boils simply down to this:
slow motion for keystrokes (Esc key for skipping fmv play, Right/Left Arrow & Enter keys for entering gameplay etc.)
let a few seconds pass on between each stroke as you make your way through (don't rush and work them all out in a split second) and TRUB ought to start in time most of the time
so does it for me, at least
HTH

Ahh, thank you for clarification! I had a feeling, that the freezes have something to do with the keystrokes. Now I know it for sure, thanks!
Although the slow motion keystrokes workaround doesn't really work for me, I have the sureness, that the freezes are the fault of the game and not of my DOSBox config or my computer hardware.

Thank you very much for your help and time!
