1. What is the "z:" supposed to do?

2. DOSBox does not include a telnet utility nor any kind of Internet or even LAN emulation out of the box as far as I know.

The "z" is the drive ltr that appears in my shell screen. But if dosbox doen't support the telnet command, the you have answered my question.

Why are you using DOSBox to launch telnet?.

Use a NTVDM (cmd.exe) session.

Syncterm is freeware and although buggy, runs on all platforms except Mac.
