1. What is the "z:" supposed to do?

2. DOSBox does not include a telnet utility nor any kind of Internet or even LAN emulation out of the box as far as I know.

The "z" is the drive ltr that appears in my shell screen. But if dosbox doen't support the telnet command, the you have answered my question.

Why are you using DOSBox to launch telnet?.

Use a NTVDM (cmd.exe) session.

These are the posts I like to either ridicule or ignore. I'm feeling kind of ornery so I choose the former. What OS are you running? Why do you need DOSBOX to telnet? Are you running a DOS telnet client? Perhaps you thought this forum is made up of psychics and therefore felt that from the two lines of text you typed we could derive the platform and provide a comprehensive solution for your exact needs.

You, like most new members, never bothered to read the FAQ. I know I know, you can't be bothered and only joined to get that one question answered and likely will never post again. Good riddance, go bother someone else.

Syncterm is freeware and although buggy, runs on all platforms except Mac.
