Hello,

I am Michael and I am a computer science student from Germany.
Once again I discovered an old game of mine: Genewars.
All worked fine, could install, could play.

Tried the v1.1 patch from this useful site:
http://genewars.lubie.org/html/gwedit_patches.php
and then it stopped working.

Dosbox stays black after starting. No console text.

Edit: Found something.
On patching it is supposed to create files.
Those files get created, but dosbox says failure creating them.
Any ideas?

What exactly does it say?

Please assure that you're using the latest dosbox version.

Don't know what I made wrong before, but it works now with 1.1
Maybe a typo in the dosbox config, which made genewars config.ini wrong.

If anyone needs a tutorial for that, I am happy to provide it.

Hmm thought it works, but the CD Patch doesnt work anymore, even with CD inserted.

Gonna check somethings out.

Edit: Update

The CD Patch does not work when using v1.1 patch.
If you do the official patch before cd-patch, it will override
and after, it will not patch.
Gonna look into the C-Code.

Update2:
It is an error with the SRC of the files to patch.

Update3:
It works with the original CD and an image, but not with an directory mounted as CD-Rom with -t cdrom

Gonna change my tutorial according to that.
